    No problem ...

... but don't forget, it may kick off 15 minutes late.

Coventry City will take on Sunderland in League One on Sunday, but why do the two side's share such a fierce rivalry?

    http/www.coventrytelegraph.net/sport/football/football-news/sunderland-coventry-city-rivals-why-17822052

I was at Everton so directly affected by this.

I'd have little problem if our game had naturally finished earlier than the Coventry v Bristol game and they'd both avoided scoring.

However this was obviously planned by Hill from the start. It's beyond belief that, in such an important game, thousands of supporters simply strolled up late.

The game was delayed by 15 minutes and Hill announced the Sunderland result on the tannoy so the players all knew. I'm not sure it was even within league rules to broadcast results, from other games. Hill only ever believed the rules were beneath him so he'd have done it whatever the case.

But the worst thing for me was that not only did Hill accept he was responsible but regularly joked about it over the years ...

... yet he bullied the authorities and was allowed to chair the disciplinary enquiry into the affair.

Him and his cronies decided it was all absolutely fine and dandy, what a surprise ...

... no doubt they all enjoyed a fine lunch at the expense of the league.

Not content with that they did exactly the same thing when they and their fans were delayed on their way to Tottenham North London , we were at Selhurst Park South London to play Wimbledon , surprise surprise they kicked off late when all fixtures were supposed to start simultaneously to ensure fair play . We lost and their game finished a good 10 minutes later with them drawing at Spurs - shafted again !!!

    Bit harsh mate ...

.... apart from the fact that, when it suited him, he walked out on Coventry, his wife and kids, the mistress he walked out on his wife to be with, the one after her, etc etc etc ...

... fair enough, you were right <laugh>

The league had no problem with ko being delayed for late fans , but does anyone remember ( or am I dreaming ) that a season or two later , we had an evening game in London which meant getting through the whatsit tunnel . An accident or incident deadlocked the area and the team ended up getting changed on the bus in order to make ko time . But the league fined us for being late

    Hypocrite alert!!!

"Hill's various campaigns to increase the game’s entertainment value included a passionate advocacy of awarding three points for a win, rather than two, in order to reduce the scope for pre-arranged stalemates."

    Hypocrite alert!!!

    "I'm not a racist."

In 1982 Hill attempted to lead a tour of English professional players to South Africa, at the time of the sporting boycott against the apartheid regime.

    "I'm not a racist."

He later appointed himself lead counsel for the defence after Ron Atkinson’s inadvertent on-air description of Chelsea’s Marcel Desailly as a “****ing lazy thick ******”. In dismissing that as harmless joshing, Hill equated the use of the N-word to being taunted himself as “chinny”.

    Here's a canny scenario.
    Last game of the season,
    Sunderland v Rotherham.
Coventry need one of them to lose to keep second spot,
    We play out a draw.
All the fans wear prosthetic chins :D

    If carlsberg did scenarios :)
