If people don't like swearing I believe they should go to the part of the ground where there isn't any, and that's the family enclosure. Go on, take my ****ing seat, its recently become available!

I don't mind swearing at matches, and find it annoying how people get annoyed at other people swearing. Fair enough, you have kids, but I am sure they have heard it before, kids have a criminal responsibility from the age of 10, if they decide to use the language, then they get a smacked bottom.

As I said, family enclosure is perfect for no swearing. However, go in the east stand, and there is no talking, your luck may be in.

Just playing devils advocate, but just as you believe you have a right to use foul language, other people also have the right to be offended by it. I'm just as guilty as the rest when I'm with my mates and I understand that my kids are exposed to it too but if some foul mouthed chav is taking it too far then I've just as much right to ask them to give it a rest. If said chav can't dial it back and continues to use the C**T words or F**King this and that constantly then screw em I'll resist the temptation to vent on the little ****er and call over a steward cos I've paid for my ticket and my kids so why should we have our enjoyment ruined by an inconsiderate pleb with wannabe tourettes complex?

Most normal people understand this, fair do's if there are kids around then you dial it back a notch if they're youths then they probably worse then the best of us! so feel free to vent your spleen at the ref et al, I do

Where I used to sit a few seasons ago there was a group of lads who were notorious for swearing and shouting abuse and one game someone complained to the steward and he came over and had a quiet word with them and then stood at the front so he could keep a close eye on them.

So for the rest of that game instead of swearing when they felt agrieved with the referee or the opposition players they started jumping up and shout things like "oooh you nasty man" or "oooohhh bad decision referee you scoundrel!!" and you could see the blood boiling in the steward.

The next home game they were back swearing and shouting abuse, but nobody bothered complaining because it was better than hearing them shouting victorian insults at people and acting totally over the top

I have been warned on a couple of occasions by stewards for being abusive towards the players, if I am in a section where there are women or youngsters I will tone down my language, if a police officer is involved then you can be done under the standard Section 5 Public Order Offense, it doesn't matter that the ground is private property as it is a place of gathering for the general public.

I must admit i swear quite a lot in general with known company but i am concious of the fact that i'm around other people that don't necessarily want to hear me mouth off so i try to tone it down at the footy. obviously its not uncommon to get pissed off and launch a bit of a tirade but i must say i'd get a little miffed if some upstart kept swearing around my missus and daughter (if they were completely desensitised to it like my lass...). they have to accept its part of footy to a degree, but if i was asked to tone it down i'd try to out of decency.

either that or just ****ing boot him in the back the next time he stands up sending him flying down the stand. why hit the wife and daughter? he's the one complaining, taking the moral high ground the ****. if the lasses take exception to your actions just stab the pair of them and then signal to a steward that they tried to attack you...

Just for the record, THe council dont own St James Park. They own the pitch, and thats it. The rest of the ground is privately owned and the owner has the right to refuse admissiion to anyone without reason. So it wouldnt stand in court if you were thrown out and refused entry as its effectivly private property. This is why they can get away with enforcing you to sit down which in my opinion is against human rights.
