    Match preview
Bristol City have made a habit of putting together winning and losing streaks under Lee Johnson, and the Robins boss will hope that another negative run is not on the horizon after Saturday's heavy defeat to West Bromwich Albion.

While Bristol have faced the top two clubs in the division in successive matches, the manner of the setbacks will concern Johnson, especially after they almost let slip a three-goal lead against Derby County in their previous outing.

On a positive note, the inconsistencies of the teams around them mean that Bristol remain just four points adrift of third place, despite now sitting three points adrift of the playoffs.

Although improving on a run of nine goals being conceded in four matches will take priority, Johnson's side have now gone 222 minutes without finding the back of the net.

When also taking into consideration that they have only netted more than one goal in a match since January 14, Bristol will need to make improvements all over the pitch in order to have a chance of keeping their promotion hopes alive.

As far as Huddersfield are concerned, Danny Cowley knows that there is a lot of work ahead as the Terriers bid to avoid a second successive relegation.

While a return of eight points from seven outings is not disastrous, the form of the clubs around them has resulted in Huddersfield remaining above the drop zone by just two points.

Cowley was frustrated with his side conceding two late goals at Swansea City at the weekend, strikes which came after Steve Mounie had extended his recent good form with a 78th-minute equaliser.

However, with three of their next four matches taking place at the John Smith's Stadium, Huddersfield have a window of opportunity to get more points on the board as they bid to open up some breathing space ahead of the bottom three.

Nathan Baker or Tomas Kalas could come in for Bristol defender Ashley Williams, who struggled against the Baggies on Saturday.

Kasey Palmer may come into the midfield, with Johnson likely to consider dropping Nahki Wells or Famara Diedhiou.

After being dropped to the substitutes' bench at the weekend, Emile Smith Rowe and Mounie are expected to return to the Huddersfield starting lineup.

Benfica loanee Chris Willock will also hope to make his first start after four outings as a late replacement since his January arrival.

Trevoh Chalobah is also an option for the centre of midfield, potentially in place of Andy King.

    Huddersfield Town possible starting lineup:
Lossl; Simpson, Stearman, Schindler, Toffolo; Chalobah, Hogg; Willock, Smith Rowe, Bacuna; Mounie

    Bristol City possible starting lineup:
Bentley; Hunt, Benkovic, Baker, Dasilva; Nagy, Henriksen; Eliasson, Palmer, O'Dowda; Diedhiou

We say: Huddersfield Town 1-2 Bristol City
Both teams are under pressure for contrasting reasons heading into this contest. In what could prove to be a nervy affair, we feel that Bristol will show more ambition in the final third, an approach which could pay off by the full-time whistle.

I hope we get a run of good results and most of this discontent will evaporate but there is no doubt in my mind LJ is like Marmite to our fans, we are not split apart yet but we are like tecttonic plates, the cracks are there but temporarily covered, there is a large number of people that love LJ, a substancial number that can't tolerate him and a large middle group that are fence sitters, we support Bristol City FC and won't react until success or disaster is pending or strikes, we understand the benefits of solidarity but can't stand broken promises, dismal football and excuses.

It's up to LJ to bind us altogether or else.

The interesting comment was that we need changes all over the pitch and I can't really argue against that point. Right now I see a team that looks lost and unless Lee can turn this negativity in to something more reflective of a unified squad then I can see us falling away from the play-offs. For someone who stated that he needed 3 transfer windows to get his required set-up right for a serious challenge for promotion I feel he has failed badly in even coming close to those words.

Something is wrong deep within Bristol City and I must admit I don't know who is at fault, unless you lay the blame solely at the feet of the coach, and perhaps some soul searching is needed to get that answer and do something about it to show that actions are more powerful than false words. On the other hand I realistically only expect more of the same.

interesting comparison … joints as opposed to cracks! [ spew material out pushing plates apart ] but it might be fair to compare as a subduction zone … we are currently on the plate being subducted!
I always look at posts and see often a pattern … a lot on here actually see a pattern amongst our posters in the milder form of "we lose 3 or more and out come the knives" we win a couple and these knife wielders disappear... we lose one no response and they start exercising their fingers on second loss [ not seen a post since we last won!! ] waiting for the third defeat to start again ….. There is 3 "leaders" of 3 different packs …
wont give away names or how they post .. don't want to upset the balance!!!
lost the last 2 ______or lost 3 of the last 4 ________or won 5 of the last nine! … what really counts is how many of the last 46 have we won! how many drawn and did we lose less than a third?

it will be an interesting game on Tuesday night I have a sneaky feeling about this one 5 of the top 12 have less than double figure GD in fact the combined GD of them is less than the highest GD OF 3 … Sheff wed!
with 12 games left a GD of less than 10 could be critical …. I would really love to see a massive score this Tuesday of maybe 5 or 6 goals … 5 for us! or even 4 …… but mostly a win even if only by the odd scored by one of their players ………..
my original forcast of needing to get 11 points in February is still on!!! but we do need to get into the W D W L W D..... mode at least [ 22 MORE POINTS! ]

It's going terribly at the moment but we're decent away and Huddersfield aren't great. Think we will actually win this one.

Huddersfield Town boss Danny Cowley could make changes after they slipped to a 3-1 defeat at Swansea on Saturday.

Striker Steve Mounie came off the bench to score his seventh goal of the season and is likely to come back into the starting XI.

Bristol City striker Benik Afobe (knee) is back in training but is still some way off returning to action.

Boss Lee Johnson could make changes after they lost 3-0 at home to West Brom on Saturday.

    Match facts
    • Huddersfield have lost their past two league games against Bristol City, scoring twice and conceding nine times across those defeats.
    • In all competitions, Bristol City have won five of their past six games against Huddersfield, losing the other at the John Smith's Stadium in December 2016.
    • Only Hull City and Luton Town (six) have lost more Championship games in 2020 than Huddersfield, who have lost five of their nine games this year (W2 D2).
    • None of Bristol City's past 17 Championship matches have ended level (W8 L9), with the Robins losing three of their past four league games (W1).
    • Following a run of no goals in 17 straight league appearances, Huddersfield striker Steve Mounie has netted seven times in his past 11 games. Indeed, since his first goal of the season on December 21st, only Ollie Watkins (8) has netted more Championship goals than the Terriers frontman.

Annoyingly RR we are much better away from home than what we all witness at our home games, won’t surprise me if we win today but the fact LJ changes the lineup and formation every week can’t help the squad get a bit of consistency which is the most annoying part of LJ managing our club, I just wish he would focus on our strengths a lot more than focus on countering the opposition

Despite drawing five of their previous six home matches (W1), Cardiff have lost fewer home games than any other Championship side on home soil this season (W8 D7 L1), a 0-1 defeat by Bristol City in November.

Maybe because the Haters and boo-boys aren’t committed enough to go to away games, so the team feels like the support is more enthusiastic???

I agree swapping players in and out (Eliasson, Paterson, O”Dowda, Baker, etc.) on a game by basis cannot be good for their confidence or team cohesion. This for me is LJs big failing, he tinkers too much.

    TEAM NEWS
Lee Johnson makes four changes from the side that lost to West Bromwich Albion with Nathan Baker, Tommy Rowe, Jamie Paterson and Tomas Kalas replacing Ádám Nagy, Callum O’Dowda, Niclas Eliasson and Ashley Williams.

agree with every one of those -fingers crossed
