Must either mean 1) SD has already got one or more on the hook and not interested in anymore offers at present as they are already at advanced stages. 2) He is doing his best to find us a decent buyer and thinks this Yu fella is not what what we need.
I think so - but, considering the fate of the club under Ellis Short, you have to wonder how the hell would he know what was best for SAFC!! What I was referring to was SD and CM being held up by some fans as being the only ones who came forward to save the club.
It's madness mate. Donald introduces them to Ross as the new owners, allows them to use the SOL as the address for FPP and takes £10 million off them ... ... then openly attempts to sell the club to anyone but them. I'm lost ....
People are constantly thinking the worst of him. I don't think it's the dynamic many people think it is, not least because it'd be embarrassing for all concerned to get into something that acrimonious or fraught. If he had 'wound up' FPP at any point, they wouldn't be involved to any level because they aren't desperadoes. Similarly, if they were intent on undermining him and backing him into something he didn't want to do, they'd probably have their cash back by now. These deals aren't acrimonious except in the worst, high-profile situations where things go drastically wrong. I think unless someone is willing to pay cash on a big gamble that we get promoted, we may have to wait. It really doesn't make sense for Donald to sell now unless it's at the price he's asking.
It does make sense if he has 2 prices, one for League one and one for the Championship. If we go into June still talking about ownership again, we may as well give up, forward planning just doesn't seem to exist with us, there is always some sort of distraction
May I dare to repeat, does Donald have the funds to finance another year in the 3rd division, nevermind the Championship...will this affect his asking price?
I dunno the answers mate. I think FPP may know whether he can finance it or not, hence their reluctance to dive straight in. I think however that ship has sailed, its still hearsay, but if this other consortium has been in touch, I am sure he must have to get permission from FPP Or Mr Yu is talking bollocks and the reason SD has not got back to him, is.... well because it is bollocks and he can't speak to him I know **** all, and this is getting muddier by the day to me. You see anything can still happen
I think the reason he didn't speak to Yu, was because his name is mud after being involved with the Carson Yeung Birmingham stuff. He also already had talks with him last year and probably knows the backers aren't rich enough to handle this without making Donald look bad by proxy because he sold to them. As for FPP, I don't think Donald's financial situation would deter them if they were interested in diving in. Everything they've done suggests that was never their intention. And two prices, yep, that's why I thought it was a pretty reasonable ask from him a few weeks back when it was mooted, because if he sold at the lower rate now, he'd look daft in a few months if we go up. Similarly, a buyer would rightly say that if we don't go up, that £5m might be essential to retaining and rebuilding the squad we have, given contract situs. Is he likely to be around the match tonight, does anyone know?
Smacks of desperation methinks. Unless he can con someone to part with money above what were worth he's goosed. My worry is he doesnt give a damn whether they would be the right or wrong owners. He just wants his cash regardless of us fans or SAFC.
I mean he's literally turning down public advances from people, so he's definitely not selling to what he considers the worst options. Don't get too disheartened.
I've said it b4 but imo forget about FPP, if they wanted to buy us it would have been done and dusted and we'd not have known a thing about it happening. Likewise when it does happen it'll come out of the blue, there and then. Just my thoughts.
Equally, you could say if they wanted to walk away it would've been done and dusted ... ... in fact, walking away would be much easier.
