Just playing devils advocate here and I’m fully expecting pelters because I am being serious. . Moyes has lost a few games. So did Parkinson when he got here. What’s the difference? Maybe Moyes is trying to instil his methods into his players, just like Parkinson had to do when he came to us. I get it that Moyes is a figure of ridicule and hate for Sunderland supporters, but he hasn’t been there that long and as we know, football players aren’t the brightest of people.
I think he could be described as not being the brightest of Managers , he has now failed ever since he left Everton . I wonder whether he told the board , players , fans , and all and sundry connected with West Ham that they are in a relegation battle destroying confidence like he did at SAFC . For someone who builds teams to win football matches as he claims he isn’t doing very well and hasn’t for many years .
Don't think that Parkinson failed at his last few jobs did he? Seeing as they didn't get the new manager bounce they need someone to motivate them and Moyes couldn't motivate someone with the ****s to go to the toilet. Whatever Moyesy mojo he once had is long gone imo.
He has been a failure at all but one club he has been manager of since Everton, the one decent job was actually Man Utd with a 52.94% win rate. Since then however Real Sociedad, Sunderland, West Ham Part 1 and West Ham Part 2 he has been absolutely dire...all with win percentages below 30%. When he was here he also managed to destroy any little confidence that the Sunderland players and fans had within weeks of being at the club with his negativity and general demeanor. Parkinson's last 4 managerial positions are all over 30% win rate, 40% currently with us this season. It's not a huge difference but the stats for Moyes simply do not match up with the reputation he has in football. I'd rather have Parkinson any day, even when we were really struggling a few months ago.
Thanks for all the replies. A lot of our supporters were more than happy that someone of Moyes stature was appointed manager of Sunderland on the day that he was announced, and most likely the same supporters were not happy at all that that a manager of Parkinson’s stature was appointed, because “he’s ****.” I’m not defending Moyes here. I know he was an unmitigated disaster at Sunderland, but let’s be aware that there will always be a negative bias towards him by all Sunderland fans no matter what he does.
I think I'm right in saying that the only game he's won was his first, when he stuck with Pellegrini's team selection and tactics. How many has he lost since? 7 out of 7 is it?
I was gutted when sam left, and excited by Moyes appointment which was a massive let down and one of our worst managers along with Wilkinson. Funny enough back in the day, a lot of Everton supporters i knew weren't happy with Moyes negative attitude. i only saw their league status after struggling before him but in hindsight he was a dour cock
Taking over a talented squad from Sir Alex with a win rate of 53% is not up to the standards of Man Utd so quite rightly he was deemed a FAILURE and did not last long and he will carry that stigma for time and eternity . SAFC supporters will look at his time at the SOL as abject failure bordering on disastrous , absolutely no love lost as far as I am concerned , don’t wish him ill but he did us no favours .
I'm happy to have a negative bias mate, I think he's a crook who took Sunderland to the cleaners. I hope Liverpool break the PL scoring record tonight tbh ... ... I'd hate to be a West Ham supporter on my way to Anfield, I know what they'll be feeling.
Not many times I want Liverpool to win but will make an exception tonight Smug. Never liked the hammers since the media rammed it down our throats after 1966 and the so called West Ham way of playing football. Mind that 0-8 scoreline has left a lasting scar. So 8-0 to the Scousers tonight and be chuffed as hell.
I still say 7-0, but the media and the FA will never discredit darling Sir Geoff for handling the ball in for one of his goals.
