I didn't realise that Romanian,Bulgarian,Slovakian,Greek,Hungarian,Lithuanian,Slovenian,Estonian and Latvian Tourists keeps London afloat? They must spend fortunes unlike those skint Americans, Chinese and Japanese tourists who come and spend nothing? . You obviously spend too much time in the Reich?
You understand my point though. Walk past any West End Theatre (any Day) or Tourist sites in London and they are full of Chinese and Americans. You don't see many people from Luxembourg or Portugal? His comments are wide of the mark.
I think you will find that these are not the only countries in the EU Ellers. They are all EU citizens, along with the French, Germans, Belgians, Dutch and Scandinavians - any attempt to differentiate between EU citizens and treat them differently at the point of entry into the country will lead to a negative reaction on this side of the Channel. Tourists from America, Japan and China (do you really want the last under the present circumstances ?) tend to be doing the grand tour of Europe and can, currently, enter Britain on a visa from the EU - in future they would need 2 visas. Something like 60% of foreign visitors to London are short term visitors from geographically close neighbours - London is only 2 hours train journey from Brussels (ie. about the same travelling time as from Manchester). Do not think for one minute you can separate the German guest from the Rumanian one, according to their nationality. Remember - for every one visitor who has the intention of working, or living, in the UK there are over 20 tourists.
This whole Brexit thing is now metamorphosing into new ways of talking crap. Before the Brexit vote we were told if we voted to leave that it would be the end of life in the UK. Our first born would be blind. Then..... Nothing happened. What happened to all the companies leaving? The pound would collapse? Ryan Air would leave the UK? No investment? Planes wouldn't fly? Mass queues in shops and no products on Shelves? Pound to Euro would be equal? All the crap i read on here from some posters... ended up being utter crap. Now it's knocking the Tories at every opportunity and project fear 2 "we won't get a trade deal" and trying to accuse the country of being racist because we want a point system? Funnily try and apply for French citizenship (that's an EU country) and see how hard that is? Don't even try getting your 20 points for a job offer because they don't employ British. And we get called protectionists! Truth is we are actually doing well and once we are fully out, will progress. The EU is in bad shape and all those thick uneducated racists probably saved our country long term.
I think you will find the 3 countries I mentioned are renowned for being big spenders in London. I know from the company I work for. After the Brexit transition. It will be just as easy for people to visit the UK. Tourist visits and moving here is completely different.
I was thinking more of the Lion King. Every day I walk past I see nothing but queues of Chinese/japanese
Overnight stays in London by nationality 2018: USA - 3,87 Million France - 3,69 Million Germany - 3,26 Million Ireland - 2,78 Million Spain - 2,53 Million Netherlands - 1,95 Million So, from the top 6 countries of origin for overnight guests in London 5 are EU countries. According to the reasons for the visits of EU citizens to London: 5,688,000 Holiday 3,210,000 Visiting friends or relatives 2,376,000 Business 561,000 Miscellaneous At the point of entry you do not know why a person is entering the country - and if you change the entry conditions for one European then you do the same for all. It will not be as easy to visit the UK after brexit - which you know very well. How many people are going to apply for visa free status weeks in advance for the purpose of spending a weekend in London, when there are other possibilities such as Paris or Vienna, which just involve getting on a train ? Or are you going to stamp the passports which most Europeans don't have, on entry ? Britain already has over a million illegal immigrants from non EU countries - maybe you should sort out this problem before adding to the number.
Doesn't tell you how much they are spending it just says who is staying. It doesn't tell us what sort of money is spent in which hotels? The french are notoriously tight with money as are the Spanish... The Americans Chinese and Japanese are not You charts prove nothing. Remember a member of my family works in Business travel. All the big money comes from the Americans and Chinese. TBH CH It's just more knocking of our country. Get over it fella ,we have left the EU and want to go our own way. People will still be able to visit and London won't sink. People need to distinguish between leaving the EU organisation and leaving the planet.
Sometimes you’ve just got to accept you’ve made something up on a whim and give up rather than doubling down on it and making up more bollocks.
So you are only worried about the big hotels charging over 100 quid per night, whereas all of the smaller, and cheaper, bed and breakfast establishments, and hostels, can go to the wall ? All of those establishments which do not deal in 'big money' ie. the majority. The fact is that a Belgian is able to make a spontaneous decision to have a long weekend in London and, by virtue of the distance, can do so several times per year - a form of travel (and frequency) which is not possible for eg. the Chinese. There is also the question of the collateral damage of Brexit - people go where they feel welcome, and Britain is not sending out welcoming signals in any direction. I do not really have to 'get over' anything - Britain has left, but the future relationship to the rest of the Continent has not yet been decided.
Actually I have the facts in front of me: Key findings include: Peak spending by visitors from the USA is June and July; whereas Chinese tourists spend more around Golden Week German visitors take advantage of the city across all seasons, especially in the autumn and in the run-up to Christmas People from Germany, Italy and Holland who stay in Airbnb listings prefer to stay in zones 2 – 3 (78%; 73%; 77% respectively); compared to 63% of visitors from China and 68% from Canada The reports I have looked at also show that the Americans are the big spenders (this is worked out by Visa/credit card stats). I don't make things up. Now go away and bore Turkish as I am writing.
This doesn't take into account that visitors from countries like the Netherlands, France or Germany are more frequent travellers than those from China (where the visit may be a once in a lifetime event). Also you should read my last post - you give the impression that you are not worried about the thousands of people in zones 2-3 who let rooms in order to survive. I should also add that you cannot measure anything by Visa/credit card statistics - precisely because most German tourists don't use them, coming from a nation of cash payers.
