Too be brutally honest I didn’t expect us to be doing much after the transfer window closed injuries or not. Another situation where loads of money coming in when the best players were sold ( the very real goal threat ) at the last minute with no time to get proper replacements for them. It was obvious to anyone that we needed a proven replacement goal scorer. I don’t totally blame Terry but he is the manager and the buck stops with him. Two points from 24 is just not acceptable and it’s his responsibility to sort it out.

There was a celebratory dinner in Much Hoole to mark the event. I went to it. Cultured or what?

Duffen's black Bentley was parked at Deepdale today in the car park in front of the stadium - is it normal for him to go to away matches?

But what are you expecting? Maddison has looked very good but he's spent half the week glued to the ****ter and missed training.

Kane, Lichaj, Stewart, Maddison, Batty, Samuelsen, KLP all missing is still a fair chunk. Do you think he wanted Magennis playing wide right? Probably not given that he's a striker.

You have to look at it with context. No, 2 from 24 isn't good enough in any league, but the players coming back from injury will need to get up to speed, it could be next week before you see any real progress. Today was better, for 60 minutes at least.

If you were managing an office and all your staff caught coronavirus and you only had a skeleton staff of bank staff to call upon, you wouldn't get the sack if they didn't perform.

If he can get us to within spitting distance of the playoffs, he can sort this mess out. Sacking manager after manager is as bad as overhauling the squad every year.

We deserved a point for the first half but once we conceded the penalty there was only going to be one winner. Preston changed their game in the second half and we didn't cope with it. We stopped pressing so hard. We didn't look like scoring in the second half whereas we were always dangerous in the first.

Eaves' injury is a real concern.

The best part for me was meeting Professor Tiger for the first time since 1974! It was a real pleasure, sir.

Agree 2 points from 24 and a lot managers would be sacked but who in their right mind would want the job apart from ones that can’t find one

This is a great summation. We played well today away against a team in 6th with a good home record, penno soft for me did change the game dynamic, we looked better than we have since the weds match, players back no coincidence with that

I'm not McCann's biggest fan by a long way but calling for him to be sacked is a bit unrealistic.
Big game against Barnsley now, We really don't want to lose that one or we are in trouble.

I don’t mind losing to Preston. Lived there for 3 years and I do have a soft spot for the place. Whenever my mates came over to go out we always used to accidentally bump into the same PNE fan around town. It was like ground hog day.

The guys clueless - giving Irvine the captain's armband is laughable - Irvine doesn't direct, motivate, manage or anything - he runs about getting frustrated with himself for another wayward pass but certainly no leadership on show

My concern is we don’t look capable of keeping a clean sheet. This isn’t due to injuries - our defence has been pretty patchy all season, regardless of who plays.

So he’s basically a Markus Henriksen.

Not really - Henriksen had a good pass success rate - Irvine doesn't - however neither are captain material

I only attended a funeral in Much Hoole church (a distant relative of my wife, barely known to me). It was a couple of years after the last transit of Venus, so 2014 or 2015. But we were seated below the stained-glass window. For me, at least, it put the fun into funeral.

It is when you're on the verge of buying a football club. Did you notice his chauffeur with the dark tan sat waiting for him, Phil Brown?

Oh Phil, Phil, come home. Your fan misses you.

Think people need a bit of a reality check here? What did people expect when Bowen and Grosicki would leave? Calls for sacking the manager is ludicrous, I've said it all along and its fairly obvious when those two players left we are League 1 fodder (especially with what we will replace them with).

Looking at our attacking options we have 4 players that are potentially League 1 players, of which 2-3 are injured. Yes you can blame McCann for poor signings, but what other chance do we have, Ehabs constant wage cutting means we have sweet eff all wages to offer, so we end up with what we have got.

Hopefully we can stem the the tide, but I tell you now even if we do stay up (which is likely) De Wijs and Burke won't be signing new contracts, and will be interesting parties, then we will replace with a cheaper model from the lower leagues. The team is constantly getting worse and the buck stops with the chairmen, simple as.

The first half performance was encouraging especially with a more experienced, balanced back four.
The midfield’s tenacity won that contest whilst Eaves and Magennis were a constant handful for their defence.
The second half saw a dip in energy levels along with their substitutions, rough house tactics and abysmal refereeing decisions they came back into it. The penalty seemed soft although City didn’t argue with the decision. Their second was well worked and with the loss of Eaves seemed pivotal in them gaining control of the game. I found the introduction of Maddison with two minutes remaining strange and why Batty wasn’t included to take over from Honeyman when the latter’s energy levels were exhausted.

I would say it was more than four attacking players who are League One standard but I agree sacking the manager now is not a good idea, might as well give him a chance until next season at least to work with his players and add to the squad. How many players do we have that are actually top level Championship players? None of the strikers or wingers for a start.
