1972 proved to a race in two. The defending champion Kip Keino (576) put it in the line against the Fin Pekka Vasala. (226)

The 1976 final went to the powerful Sir John Walker from New Zealand. A strong runner.

The 1988 1500m. The commentary is a bit on the biased side. A shame because it didn't do justice to the wonderful win of Peter Rono.

Ryan Newman's horrific Daytona crash. Happily, he walked from the hospital, hand in hand with his two daughters.

I loved this win. The local lad Fermin Cacho winning the 1992 gold in Barcelona.

The sensational 1996 final when the brilliant Noureddine Morcelli bolts with a lap to go after being being challenged by Hicham El Guerrouj at the bell. Who know what may have happened if the latter hadn't hit the deck.

The 2000 final when El Guerrouj looked to make amends for the fall in the previous Olympics.

Poor ol Livarpool. Just about to be crowned champs for the first time in decades. However there will be an asterisk against the 2019/20 champs which will denote that it was the VAR season and thus worth about as much as the Shropshire Sunday League Consolation Cup <laugh>. Today's VAR abortion, and there were many to choose from has to be Bournemouth's first disallowed goal. Ruled out for handball when it clear comes of the guy's shoulder and the retard in Stockley Park totally ignores the fact that a Burnley defender had a decent handful of the oppo's jersey at the time. If it's handball, which it wasn't, it's a pen to Bournemouth.

The Final of the Women's Sydney 7s. There's a good chance the rest of the season might get the chop.

This Top 10 Premiership Managers programme on the Beeb has to be the thinnest of the thin. Just put the test card lass up from the 70s with the 0s and Xs in the background and tell everyone to **** off to bed.

For the sport deprived, one of the highlights from the Rio games. The Keirin Finals. First the 7th to 12th placed finishers, then the Gold Medal Race.
