We have a really nice run of games coming up, we just need a win to end our little blip and set us up for a good run of form... you'd think Villa would be the perfect team considering they have taken just 8 away points all season! (although we have only taken 11 at home)
I agree. It is partly our fault as fans (The ones that go to the games at home) that we have only picked up 8 points at home. I don't think there is anyone on this forum, but a heck of a lot of fans get on the team's back far too early. I joke about positivity etc, but at the ground it really rubs off on the players. All it needs is a sense of anxiousness from us that is passed to say Jack Stephens at the back, that causes a millisecond hesitation and bam, we are 1-0 down. It just doesn't happen away from home. We need to be patient (and positive) with the team. It will rub off.
With a cab there is still that 0.001% chance they won't leave. Take them and you see it with your eyes
It always irritates me when people groan when the ball goes sideways or backwards after about 2 minutes!
Yep, we need to remember, we aren't Barcelona or Real Madrid - we have good players, but what stops them all from playing for the top, top teams is that their norm is solid play, with the odd slip up and the odd moment of brilliance, rather than the norm of brilliance with the odd moment of just solid play and even rare slips ups. Think VVD. If we had 11 of him, we'd be European Champions. Patience and Positivity is what is needed. I may form a life coach company and call it that.
(Edit: stands as an agreement with Tom and 7 too) I cannot stress enough how important it is for us to win this game. The home fans are getting a really rough ride this season. More entertainment than in previous years but usually for less than 90 mins and rarely resulting in a win. It makes the crowd snowflakey and puts pressure on the team which only makes the next home game more difficult and continues the cycle
Che to get our 5th after an Ings hat trick and a Shane Long thunderbolt. JWP to get a 6th. They get a consolation when our defence and Alex are found literally asleep.
Stats suggest he likes to take a tumble, a full 32 tumbles more than Zaha of all people. The nearest players we have are JWP and Pierre in joint 25th position having been fouled a massive 27 times! Fouls won 1 Grealish | Aston Villa 117 2 Wilfred Zaha | Crystal Palace 85 3 James Maddison | Leicester 75 1. Aston Villa 339 Fouls won 14. Southampton 242 Fouls won
“It is partly our fault as fans” This sentence from your post. The Villa manager has said that the first 15 minutes are key with the fans getting restless if we don’t score/start too well. His intention is to get the fans on the backs of the players, so hopefully the fans won’t rise to what could be, initially, a 10 man Villa defence designed to frustrate.
An early goal for us please. The good thing for us is that Villa are not defensively solid and we like to score as well as concede!
