What I don't get Saffy is what do they do with the money they make, do they just keep it in cash. Only reason I ask is the movement of cash is surely becoming more difficult, in an age of technology, where cash changes hands on a lot less basis, and sticking it in a bank account would raise lots of questions. I remember over hearing a cashier some years back refusing to take a cash deposit off a customer, unless they had proof where the money come from. It's even more difficult now, without attracting unwanted attention. I myself have only got to move money these days and I get a notification about it on my phone.

lol...nah it's just I know they do money laundering checks at least every three years now (1-3yrs dependent on account) - then you have the taxman snooping in. And any links to benefits and the government departments are all over it like a rash.

 

Im joking but there must be an element of truth as ive seen tons.

Loads of newsagents that have **** all stock but are active
All them chicken shops that sell a meal, chips, a drink for like 2 quid in central london, yeah right
All them nail and salon bars cash in hand only.

Must be loads of ways to wash the money quickly

oh yeah, you can defo clean the money, but when we are talking 20-30k, that's a hell of a lot of cash to clean. I wonder if that's why they get caught so easily by the old bill. Well hang on this guy aint going to a cash machine, and he's spending a hundred notes cash every time he does a family shop.

 

yeah i had the Solicitor ask where my money had come from when buying this house and seemed surprised by my " none of your business" reply . She then explained it was her business due to money laundering legislation but i still think she was just a nosy cow .

 

I had a similar problem several years back, I was told the same, money laundering checks. I think they seem happy if it's sitting in a bank account, because assumption would be banks do the checks. They just need to see the evidence.

 

Not many criminals save money, mate. They spend as they go when they know another score is around the corner.

I know one lad who started making more than he could handle three years ago so he’s registered a car valeting business on companies house. He puts his money through that now. Sends his yearly books off and pays a little bit of tax but that’s clean money he’s ‘earned’ sitting in his bank. He’s never valeted a car in his life.

Another way is to go in a casino. They’ll not blink if you put 5 grand on red and 5 grand on black, they’ll not watch for anything like that on your first spin. Just make sure you go to an active table. That will give you a 10 grand win which you can keep the receipt for to show you ‘won’ that money. You use two people to pull that one off. An anonymous man who cashes 10 grand cash in for the chips and you who collects out. That way when any investigation is done you’ve never went in with 10 grand and cleaned your money. It carries a risk of 0 green dropping in but people take that chance or put a 100 on green if they think that they can get away with it.

Travel agents is a good place to spend. I’ve booked 4 and 5 grand holidays with cash and they never blinked. Happy to take the money.

I was present when somebody bought a boat yard for 40 grand. He handed the money over in a carrier bag and the guy handed him the keys. That was it. I suppose that when it comes to selling he’s got the papers now to say it’s legally his so when he sells it should be straight forward no questions asked as long as he pays any taxes that’s legally required from the sale.

Then you’ve got the large networks who get the money sent all over the world before coming back clean. No idea how that works.

 

Durham police have said it’s ok for small personal grows. They’ve basically give everybody licence to print money until it’s legalised.

 

Dunno about casinos. I know you have to register to cash out more than 2k but yea easy way to clean money i guess. Just say you won it!

Yeah, i can see how that works, because the banks will only check what I'd call the company tree, the most they might do other than that is google the company name, as long has it all shows up, they will not actually question if the business is really trading or not. As long as the business account don't start showing 'other' business type transactions, or transfers to sactioned countries or peps then no one is going to bat an eyelid. The only hurdle to overcome then is Mr Taxman, but as you said that's going to be down to his books.

Presumably the guy is mentally ill and not a terrorist, although personally I think all terrorists are mentally ill, even the brown ones who are just called terrorists.

 

Not all ****s are mentally ill. Some are just blood thirsty nasty ****s for the sake of it.

 

Business is used a lot to clean money or what I’ve seen a lot is that it’s used to go straight. They’ll use criminal money to start it and support themselves until the business is up on its feet and once they’re making enough the clever ones knock the illegal stuff on the head. I don’t think there’s a hydroponic shop in the country that wasn’t started with money that’s come from cannabis crops.
