Morning all. Grey with occasional showers forecast for today. I have just been reading about how the nuclear power station at Fessenheim is to be closed down this coming Saturday. Fessenheim is on the border between France and Germany, and close to the Swiss one. Because of the risk from minor earthquakes in that area, promises were made to close it down by 2011. Presidents come and go, but finally it is to go. Because 2,000 jobs rely on it it has seen a lengthy fight to keep it, and there is nothing wrong with the reactor, but it is a danger, so the government is not waiting for an accident to happen. Have a good day whatever you must do.
I really cannot understand the mentality of some people. While in Shrewsbury, West Mercia Police is continuing to warn drivers not to move road closure signs from flooded routes. One of their officers said signs had been "moved yet again" Or; Last night, West Mercia Police appealed for people to stay away from the town's flood defences. It followed reports of some people moving the protective fencing so they could get closer to the barriers.
The horrifying thing about this is that it is such a regular occurrence around the world that it is no longer so shocking
Morning all. A beautiful sunny morning here, and it is forecast to stay dry. There has been a blizzard of sales calls already this morning which is unusual as they don't normally start until midday. We just don't answer the phone anymore unless it is a named person, working on the basis that if someone really wants us they will leave a message and we can phone back. You can block a number, but many of the call centres have fifty or more numbers, and then there are those who work from home using a mobile. It is pain if you are busy to have this going on especially when it is a scam. My phone provider has sent a message out saying do not look at e-mail links unless you know where it has come from. Good advice, but another instance of the internet being used to rip people off. Have a very good day whatever you might have to do.
Further to my post this morning about internet scams etc, I now read that Google is transferring all of the data that they hold, of their UK users from Ireland to the USA. Currently the UK is covered by the EU General Data Protection Rules, thought to be the best in the world, certainly the toughest. The ones in the USA are basically non-existent despite consumer groups lobbying for years now. I access Google via Google fr. so my data is as secure as possible, although I never treat it as 100%, but I think I would be a bit more concerned if it was being held in the States.
Morning all... Monthly Friday walk with friends today.. And we have had hardly any rain in five years of doing this.. Today will be very different... Hight winds and a lot of rain... I am surprised no one has suggested rescheduling... Have a good one!
Morning all. A lovely bright morning after light overnight rain. Going on a shopping trip to Limoges today, which means a lunchtime bar for something to eat. The trip down is very picturesque with the first half through the lanes and woods. The second half down the autoroute is much more open, but with deep valleys and steep hills you get some panoramic views across miles of countryside. There are a lot of plants and shrubs to see on the verges, and now there are clouds of blackthorn blossoms separating the fields. It is very uplifting to know that everything is coming back to life again. Have a great day whatever you will be doing.
Good evening all virtually no rain on our walk today... Well the weather forecasters got that wrong.. Grandson 3 sleeping over this weekend.. So lots of steam train books... Now he is up to bed and we can settle down for the evening... Hopefully he will sleep through
Friday night football, and as on Monday I didn't expect to get a result. Off to the Alps tonight, I do get around, to the town of Grenoble. 1st half the home side hit the bar, mishit the ball from 2'.0" out, and were by far the better side. Something was said at half time and Chateauroux came out and started to create some chances of their own. 75 minutes gone and a through ball was chased by a midfielder who neatly slotted it past the keeper. So we now faced the siege for the remaining time, and I found myself watching the seconds tick away until the ref blew for the final time. This is getting stressful. Twice in one week, two unexpected results, and each time with only the one goal advantage. I must restock the cave as Sunday is ahead.
Good morning all from a cool and damp Weston-super-Mare! Have a good day Up at stupid o'clock but I will head back to bed!
