Been a hard watch, trent has been incredibly poor.

 

Dreadful play acting by Athletico. Ref should book one of them to stop it

 

Game as expected. A rigid, frustrating team that we let the worse happen and let them take the lead.

Gone I think the way everyone thought it would. We must stay calm and not get drawn in. 3 halfs of football still to play, plenty of time to see them off.

Not a good game, we have been very slow going forward giving them all the time in the world to get organised. As with all Spanish teams there is a lot of play acting.

I don't know if the ref is crap, or has been given a nice new Rolex by a local businessman who is not connected with Athletico in any way.

 

AM did their job well quick uppercut then just sit back hoping to catch us on the counter . At present we are lacking precision particularly in our first touch which is slowing the attacks down / ceding possession .Keep up the pressure in the second half & hopefully something will break for us .

 

Really need ox or Naby on to add creativity and penetration through the middle. Our full backs are stifled and we’re just launching hopeless balls.

 

who do you take off ?

 

Working the spaces is key in 2nd half but gotta avoid any potential physical contact(AM doing a good job of convincing Ref of stiff breeze of wind knocking players over). Game of two halves maybe 2nd half Ref will have a word about simulation and we get to see some football.

Agreed, I'd drop Henderson in deeper, take winifred of and hopefully keita can add something they struggle to cope with.

 

Now I am not panicking but this was I and others didn’t want athletico as the are designed to stifle and they are bloody good at it
Anyone who thinks like the pundits that they cannot keep this up for 90 at anfield are sadly mistaken
We really need to up our tempo and pull them around

well since Henderson is our most creative midfielder of late i'll say no thanks.I'll bet if either AOC or Keita come on at 1-0 it will be quite late in the game .
