I suppose it wouldn't be classed as funny today, because it contained no swearing or anything of an offensive nature. It was just bog standard humour, but much like the days of Delboy, written well.
I don’t think it includes children. Old people, stay at home parents, full time carers, me. We’re going to be put to work though.
A friend of mine in his 60s, with several chronic health problems, was assessed a while ago, and told he was no longer eligible for Invalidity Benefit, and would have to reapply for Universal Credit. He pointed out tat by the time his appeal had been heard, he’d be drawing his state pension anyway, so ****em. Now he’s genuinely afraid that they’ll come for his pension
Couple of things if he was on IVB he has been accepted as "sick /disabled" for a very long time so would appeal unless his circumstances have changed and those changes haven't been notified to DWP as if he doesn't sign on he will get nowt. His SRP cannot be effected as that is contribution based
My uncle got assessed in November 2017 and told he was able to work so got taken off invalidity . He was 64 . He died 10 weeks later due to a deterioration in his health .
The assessments are a lottery I had one for sickness benefit which has that misleading moniker of Employment Support Allowance and that was brill . The bloke i saw asked all the sensible questions to probe both my existing disability and the newly diagnosed neurological damage . The 20-30 min assessment to just over an hour and i left content that at least i had seen someone with relevant medical experience who understood the the info i gave him Sat in one to represent a family member who following a brain haemorrhage has severe speech & language problems plus paralysis down one side and she was seen by a complete numpty . When the results came thru they made no sense and were wrong but as she ,rightly, had bee awarded full rate PIP i didn't bother pointing out the errors
