I believe all agents should be employed by footballing authorities and they get a annual salary without bonuses. Every transfer contributes.
I tell you now, the whole argum6over var, is just a mask form how poor our referees are. Take var out of this match tonight and Taylor would be getting slated for his descions, but he will get away Scot free , with var taking the ****e instead
Wasnt that a team genuinely in Roy of the rovers or striker ? Something like that ? Edit Maybe harchester ????
I've said ever since Chelsea were taken over that I would not want to be a club ran the way they were...It's akin to playing footaball manager with a money cheat on when you buy Messi for Burnley and blitz the league. Embarrassing. I'd rather be in midtable and earning points/successes the right way (or at least trying). So no. No jealousy whatsoever. To say that we spent lots in our pomp is too simplistic. There's a big difference between spending money earned from success and spending money to earn success. Liverpool's spending when Shankley took over was minimal. Most his players came from the reserves or lower leagues. £606,750 net over 15 seasons - even factoring in inflation, this is not obscene. Paisley spent more, but Liverpool were also now earning more through success - £1,719,000 over 9 years. It's worth noting that Arsenal spent the most in the 70s and Everton the most in the 80s incidentally. It's only when we get to the late 80s/early 90s that we start throwing masses of money away and spending beyond our means but even then, our spending wasn't too dissimilar to other teams around us. By the mid 90s, other teams were outspending us again - Blackburn, United, Newcastle...Infact, since the PL era, we've only been the highest spending team twice (99/00 and 08/09 I think) both times where we were seeing more success again. Even now with the FSG era, our spending is well within our reach. A profitable business. Call it hyprocrisy all you like, I see more justification in claiming that we spent what we earned through hard work and progress rather than being bankrolled by a mega rich owner. No one can compete with City financially just as no one could compete with Chelsea until Abramovic got bored. The difference between spending to be competitive and spending to obliterate everyone around you. I suppose it would be like popping 50p coins into a slot machine to try and win a few quid, some people are richer and have a few more 50p coins to throw in to the mix but one nobhead turns up with 10k and buys the whole damn machine, smashes it open and takes all the money home at a net loss. At that point, the game isn't even a game any more. Your other point about FFP being to protect the big teams is something I'm wrestling with though. I'm not sure what I think about it. I don't want oil teams effectively making it meaningless for smaller teams to try. Equally so, I don't want smaller teams to be hindered from being able to climb the leagues. FFP needs rethinking, but it should totally stop the likes of City doing what they've done so far.
I totally get what you are getting at and in some points i agree But imho a smaller club supporter would feel that whenever they get a good player a bigger team comes in and does exactly what we think City are doing hence the hypocrisy Its the same thing on a different scale. Yes chelsea and city took it to the next level Charlton (?) would have loved to have kept Gomez, i know for a fact Fleetwood did not want vardy to go but it is the way, the simple truth is, there is a bigger bully is in the yard and we just dont like it The 14 euro clubs are defo trying to protect their bubble (dont blame them) so ffp is a farce imho It will never happen but the only way to solve it is No transfers, only players from the locality of origin can be taken on by a club and every player paid set fee Bit like when formula one levelled the cars out
I do like that though The game is still there though Someone else can play it just very difficult like i say a smaller club still has that viewpoint cause if you dont have 50p to play it might aswell be 1million as makes no difference. Take Burnley, due to demographics they can never ever ever be as big as Liverpool so its not even a game really
The talk about 'FFP is only there to protect big teams' I don't get because it only applies to teams entering UEFA competitions ie. CL and Europa League which only the big teams get into anyway (with a few exceptions every now and again in the Europa).
Thought there was an equivalent in Championship ? The CL sides basically dont want a City coming along and ruining their gravy boat and our club imho is part of that. (i dont blame them and i want us in there too, i just not going to bother to much when someone bigger comes along - it makes seasons like this one all the more enjoyable as we have destroyed them) City absolutely had to spend to get to where they are They did not have the abilty to do it over time and why should they I feel its all about perspective Derry City fans are probably laughing their tits off at us lol
Don't know about that I just know what we're talking about is only for teams in European competitions run by UEFA.
It's not about big fish and little fish though is it? It's about a huge injection of cash into a club that wasn't earned through football- related means. A fast-track to success. If City are getting punished then it can't simply be about top clubs protecting themselves from smaller ones.
