Good Morning. It's Monday 17th February, and here are the latest headlines from Elland Road

Leeds get back to winning ways in style

Leeds delivered a battering on Bristol City that Storm Dennis would have been proud of as the Whites not only got back to winning ways at Elland Road, but the rest of the chasing pack lost distance.

The solitary goal came on 16 minutes from an unusual source. Pinball had erupted around the Robins goal mouth with the ball being belted all around the 18 yard box. Klich passed the ball to Ayling (who had started the attack) with his back to goal. The right book took a touch, turned and found the corner of the net.

What seemed to be a nine man defensive unit held fast for the remaining 75 minutes with the help of the wood work as Bielsa's men continued to pummel Lee Johnson's team ito submission.

Untistled-27.jpg To make matters better leaders West Brom drew with 5th place Huddersfield (the best result we could have hoped for), Fulham were thrashed at home by relegation threatened Barnsley, Preston were beaten at home by a late Millwall goal and high flying Brentford were held to a 1-1 draw at St Andrews.

In Layman's terms Leeds have created a three point cushion between themselves in second place and Fulham is 3rd, and a gop of 4 points at the top of the summit between West Brom and the Whites.

    Bielsa's Post Match Press Conference

Has there been a falling out between Bielsa and Augustin?

We have seen three cameo appearances from 20m rated Jean-Kevin Augustin and whilst I understand the 22yo is regaining his fitness, I can't help but be a little concerned about his body language.

He doesn't seem to be putting himself about, making exciting runs or making a nuisance of himself in the opposition box. I understand he has had limited opportunities to show his calibre, but I can't help but feel that what we have seen so far has been lacklustre and uninspiring!

    Agree?

Ex Leeds midfielder, now Soccer pundit Michael Brown believes that Bielsa may be to blame! Speaking to the press, the former hardman said:-

“He’s already, I think, tethering with Marcelo Bielsa,” “So we might see a clash straight away, that we don’t even see him [playing] because Bielsa will not have it if you don’t conform to his ways.

“Augustin is not at the level of fitness and that’s going to be the one to watch.

“That could fall out with him and Bielsa because he probably didn’t agree with the manager’s reasons for him not to play to get him to that fitness.

“He’ll be saying: ‘Well I’m fit, I’ll give you 10, 20 minutes and I’ll nick you a goal,’ but has he lost him already?”

    Morning all...

We rely on our fitness to play the style that we do, If Augustin isn’t willing to try then bollocks to him. If they all did that we’d not be playing like we do and not be sitting in the autos. Of course, it’s all rumours or suggestions/opinion from an ex player

Great win, if we beat Reading it will be very refreshing to have back to back wins and unbeaten in three

A very good morning to you all
Fingers crossed the latest storm (Dennis) has not affected anyone on here, to a severe extent.
Wow just when I thaught it was more or less all over for another season for Leeds, after the forest result, the lads turn in a performance like that and beet Bristol 1-0, but should have been more.
Dare I say it we now once again seem to be on the right track, although at the moment we are struggling to score more than one,Problem is we have a keeper that is always likely to concede threw a mistake or otherwise, so for me bring Messlier in, to try and eliminate this obvious weakness, and we just might, and I say once again might be ok.

I was working this weekend and only got to see the highlights last night. I was impressed with our shooting even though we only scored one, it was much better than the Brentford game and the Bristol keeper was on top of his game. Someone's going to get battered soon! As for Augustin, it's early days and I'm sure any problems can be ironed out.

Morning all. On Augustin I noticed he did not seem sharp but I also thought he was not quite reading how the attack was developing and seemed unsure a few times where to put himself. Whether or not it’s attitude I don’t know but it may be simply he’s a bit rusty. Be nice if he got a goal, that might transform him.

Morning all. No storm here thankfully. Great performance Saturday but a word of caution. Lot of fans once again getting carried away. We battered Bristol still only recorded one goal and kiko had nothing to deal with. For me the old problems are still there. We can’t score and we know the setup at the other end. It’s going to be a right slog for next 13 games. Incidentally we’ve a far superior goal difference to Fulham so effectively a four point gap

Winning is a habit (as is losing). Important to get the win against Reading not only for the points but to build that momentum heading in to a decent looking run in.

As winning is a habit for the team, scoring goals is for strikers. I'm desperate for Augustin and/ or Bamfors to get a goal and get on a run. We are going to need both of them if we are to start smashing teams.

Another win vs Reading and suddenly we are on a decent little run of results.

I think everyone needs to calm down about Agustin, he has played only a handful of minutes. He doesn't look match sharp yet, so difficult to judge yet. One thing for sure is Bielsa would not play him or put him on the bench if he didn't feel he was ready.

We are playing some great football and not far from putting in a few against some teams.

Confident for the reading match and then the run starts.

    Morning all.

Excellent performance on Saturday, lack of goals still as frustrating as ever. I keep thinking we're going to batter someone soon but will it ever happen ? Would take a run of 1-0 victories obviously but not sure my ticker could take it.

Where does Michael Brown get his information ? Or is he just a low-level hack making it up to get clicks ? I suspect the latter.

At the business end of the season it's often the teams fighting relegation that suddenly start getting results. But at least all the other promotion rivals will be taking points off each other.

We definitely have the easier run in. The big thing about that is that all the other teams will drop points to each other.

It's another positive but it's the old cliches of "one game at a time" and "look after your own performances and the table will sort itself out".

We are in an incredibly strong position. However, the facts remain that we have to tighten up at the back (Kiko) and have to convert chances in to goals (Bamford,Harrison,Costa). The last 2 goals we scored have come from defenders. We still have issues both end of the pitch.

Said a while back for me it’s Brentford baggies and us for top 2. Wba have the points, we have the easiest run in.
Also agree that bottom of table sides can be fighting for everything. Ideally you play sides with nothing to play for. No getting away from the fact that we have the easiest run in on paper. It’s Leeds though. When was anything ever easy.

Let’s not forget that whoever we play and whatever position they are in
They will take great delight in frustrating our run in and as the saying goes “it’s not over till the fat lady sings”
    Good morning by the way

Unfortunately I agree. I was painfully aware if Bristol had sneaked one we were probably not going to react well.

Didn't WBA draw with Forest, and Huddersfield draw with Derby?

I wouldn’t say so no. I just don’t think Bamford has the killer instinct to be a top striker
