Well that was a bit of a **** show. Apart from Danny Ings increasing his tally for the season and Jack Stephens putting in a very accomplished shift, there wasn’t much to feel positive about. We do have a habit of doing this now and again so I’m putting this down to a blip. Nothing more and nothing less. Most of the team were flat, lifeless and never looked like they thought we would win this. I reckon Ralph will be angry but he should also ask himself why Bednarek wasn’t playing. That was a stupid error and although Vestergaard wasn’t awful, he slows the game up, dawdles around too much and is pretty ineffective. Oh well, bring on Aston Villa and we really have to take 3 points. We will be safe enough this season but just staying in the Premier League isn’t good enough. Ralph knows this so hopefully we will react positively and put today behind us. Keep the faith, stick together and let’s all remember there are far more important and stressful things in this life than football. Chin up everyone.
We just played Burnley on the wrong day (again!) and still should've won apart from a calamitous freak goal and a Worldie from a player that hardly ever plays and it was his first goal in two years or something.
I know that's sensible Kaits but for 90+ minutes I have the worst case of tourettes in the universe. Nothing logical about a footy fan.
Still 12 games to go and we are only 3 points from the top ten, we just need to get some more results at SMS.
Hopefully Boufal not out for too long then, looked like he was holding his toe when he went down. Could be a recurrence of the table injury
We seem to hit the goalposts at least once a game at the moment. The first goal was utterly ridiculous. I am soaking wet. I hate Burnely and I hate that we have given them a pretty easy win from their point of view. The Sean Dyche anti football machine rolls on. Why did we have to play Burnley of all teams when the weather is like that? It's basically an assist to their tactics. In the ground that looked a penalty but having seen the replay I can see why it wasn't given. KWP did okay in a tough game to make your debut! He looked quite nervous early on but grew into it. If the weather was fine today I think we win that fairly comfortably which just makes it more frustrating. We missed Redmond, but Boufal was playing well, positive and causing them problems. When he went off we missed him and Djenepo was very ineffective when he came on, often stopping play and passing back when he had space in front of him. Danny Ings is King. I am still very wet and Saints never win when I go to games. It's my fault. I won't go again this season I promise. This has been a random assortment of my thoughts post match, brought to you by my cold frustrated brain.
Can we start a campaign to have the winter break scrapped? It clearly doesn’t suit our players or performances. Should we happen to get a couple of very good CBs in the summer, I would really like to see Stephens given a shot at defensive midfield. He is becoming more and more confident and comfortable on the ball, and his two runs forward caused Burnley to defend quite desperately.
I must admit, I'm getting sick and tired of the beyond incompetent referees we're getting every week. All utterley useless.
Soon they will be obsolete and all those sad little men who ref games will be no more. VAR AI to ref games from some floating pod flying round the pitch. Libby will hate it
