Hello, team. Well, regular readers, there is one running on the level at Lingfield Park, of the morrow, that I rather like.

MAKRAM (3.40) was gelded as a 2YO, one last throw of the old dice if you like, as he had proved nigh on impossible to train. That operation has seemingly worked though as the old boy has proved much more compliant and far, far, far easier to manage since. Makram certainly commenced his career on the track nicely, last month, as he finished an eye-catching runner-up at Kempton Park. Slowly away and very green in the early stages he appeared clueless until the old penny seemed to drop about what was required and he finished to very good effect, with a storming run late on, to beat all bar the winner.

He’s in, well in my opinion at any rate, the very best of hands, re the Flat, and you can guarantee that since that pipe opener Makram has been well drilled by Mr Charlton and will be ready to open his account of the morrow. Plus it’s only natural to assume that his debut run will have brought him on a fair, fair, fair bit and he will now be much more battle hardened and know what is required throughout the course of the entire contest.

Makram is also very well bred as his dam is a full sister to Youmzain (dual Group 1 winner and 3 times Arc runner-up) and also a half-sister to Creachadoir (Group 1 winner).

The worry about this type of wager is that one of the unraced ones proves to be the ‘latest reincarnation of Pegasus’ but I’m more than happy to put up Makram and believe him more than capable of being able to record his first win tomorrow afternoon.

And may I point out that this advice is solely the work of my brilliant / limited (delete as appropriate) mind. None of my Wiltshire moles / informants/ contacts (delete as appropriate) were consulted. Not even Ava Bree, Mel Kashum or Dee Vizes.

    Good luck all.

Well bred for this particular discipline and in my view likely to go off a fair bit shorter.

Digger Daudaie for me in the Artillery Gold Cup (3.00 Sandown). Was expected to win last time at Carlisle when flopped as a 13/8 fav. Wouldn't rule out this horse today. Its lightly raced with only 8 career runs and todays rider has won this race in the past.

Maybe its interesting to know for you what trainer Charlie Longsdon told Attheraces about Digger Daudaie in his stable tour a few days ago:

"Things haven’t gone right for him this season after winning two novice hurdles last season. He didn’t run any race at Carlisle last time when I thought he would win and he is entered at Hereford on Wednesday and Sandown at the weekend. Chasing should be the name of the game for him and it hasn’t worked out so far but it will do eventually. "

Two took my eye in this race. Yours and Booborowie at 12s. Both have drifted in the market, both have big IFs about them but both are capable at what are now decent looking prices. I've done the reverse forecast on them. Haven't decided yet if i'll back them both in singles. Good luck with yours

Hello, everyone. Must confess to being a tad disheartened when I saw the first show re Makram - odds-on when I was expecting something like the forecast prices of 9/4 - 5/2. He has now eased to 11/10 in a place (generally Evens) but still pretty poor value in my opinion. Apologies for putting up such a 'shortie' and had been expecting much better in terms of the old odds.

    hi fellas!hope,youre well..

ive decided to swerve the next two races at fakenham,as the odds are very cramped,so not for me.but the 3 20 is at least a bit more competitive, and i might have found a "dark"horse here.its COMMIS D OFFICE,and although he burned off favourite backers more than once in the past, has been well supported every time,so better was expected.also possible,he ll adapt well to this Course,as he likes to race prominently, which is Always a plus round here.so,surely not a lost cause..
