As I find myself doing a lot at the moment, agree with you here Norton. As fans it's easy to get caught up in the vortex of TAKEOVER OMG, but the simple truth is that these things are slow-burners by nature, and while it would be a nice boost for us all if something positive happened, it really isn't materially going to change the current squad between now and May regardless of who is in charge. We need to just keep our heads for now. Idle speculation and chat are one thing, but the tension is because we're all becoming conditioned to see that as an end to our journey. It reminds me of how everyone got so het up about the B word, then they interviewed some wifey on the BBC just after 11pm the other day and asked her what would change for her and she said 'well... nothing...' If we got new owners tomorrow, we'd still be the same squad in the same division, fighting the same battle to get out of it. New owners can't change that now.
I think promotion may be a small factor - one of the big plus points for SD/any deal/new buyer must be the retention of the Cat 1 Academy status
I’ve thought since Boxing Day that the two draws against Bolton would cost us automatic promotion. I sincerely hope I’m wrong, it wouldn’t be the first time...
You never know mate, that last minute penalty against Bolton might be the point or goal that gets us in the top two. I live in hope.
Thought that too, should've had that whole half or certainly 30 odd mins game time the other night to show what he could do. Sadly, Parky doesn't like an early change.
Why has Satori sent a message of good luck to the team? Is he looking forward to another trip to Wembley or is he joining the party with Parky?
I'm not actually that bothered about takeovers ATM. The fact is that the playing side of the club has to be rebuilt from the ground up and who is in charge of the club makes bugger all difference, quite frankly. I know they will control the purse strings, but it's more a case of who you buy then how much you spend and that's a football decision, not one for the owner or Board.
agree he’s been absolutely pointless. where are all these young South American players he promised. He’s done nothing at all.
I reckon it was all a publicity stunt for the Uruguayan people on his run up to the election. As in "look at me, the person of the people", all hosted by the people of Sunderland and SAFC.
