I think some of those were a bit harsh, tbh. His reputation precedes him, obviously. However, stroppy and impulsive and far too interested in gamesmanship. Likes the dark arts but doesn't keep them in the dark. Doesn't look like a good fit for us at all.
We won’t get both unless one of the front 3 leave. Who would be everyone’s preferred choice if we had to lose one of them? (I know none ideally but I can’t see us buying those two without having to lose at least 1 of the front 3)
No chance we are signing both imo. Shaqiri will leave which potentially opens up another spot, but both would be overkill. Lallana will be replaced by Jones I feel, so no midfield signings. Williams as cover for Trent, so maybe a LB cover to be signed?
Would prefer Sancho because he’s got world class potential and is already playing at such a high level. Werner would be class as well. I’d expect Shaq and Origi to both leave if we ended up getting both
Sancho 80m Werner 60m Origi 40m Shak 30m Last years budget not spent 80m? Dont care make it work Edwards.
It's a difficult one for Klopp. We need strengthening but I can't see any of the front 3 leaving for a while yet so how do you get a Werner or Sancho in those circumstances? Anyone know what Klopp did at Dortmund in terms of player purchases and youth promotion because I think he has a strategy that he sticks to.
I remember reading how he bought in the guts of that team for about £50m. We are talking a few years back but it was a staggering list. Lewandowski £3.3m....Hummels £3m.....Gundogan £3.85m.....Subotic £3.15m...Reus £12m....Aubameyang £9m.... He's always had an eye for a good player at a very good price. Youth promotion?...........don't know
We wouldn't break the front three up voluntarily, because they work ideally as a trio. The only way we'd lose one is if he himself chooses to leave, in which case we have no say in the matter. I can't see us getting both Sancho and Werner, unless we already know that someone is leaving and keeping schtum about it. Having said that, I can't see why anyone would want to leave the club at this stage - unless they wanted more game time, something that doesn't apply to our front three. I know we'll lose two of them to AFCON, but it's fanciful to think we'd bring in two expensive, quality players as cover for a handful of games. Klopp will make do over that period - that's how he works. Any additions will be carefully chosen to build for the future. Seven players competing for three places may seem attractive to fans, but is pointless from those players' point of view. Too many variables and unlikely scenarios, therefore I conclude that these rumours are mostly journos' fantasies. I'd be very surprised if we got more than one, and I'd expect it to be Werner. As others have said, LB is the area where we're most thin on the ground.
We do desperately need cover in the quality of one of them. Bet klopp would love to rotate things more
I'd see him doing the role Shaqs has so miserably failed at, and I say that sadly as I was one of the biggest supporters on here of getting him. I doubt if we could get Ford for £15m, but if we could tie him down to @£50k..... nah.
