The thing is that they both did the job that Warbles wanted them to do, defend from the front, cover wide arrears etc......Ok Hugill should/could have scored twice but when we've lost the last 5 away games and staring at a 4th straight defeat, away at a side on the cusp of the play offs and they don't have a shot on target the whole game. Basically that's because we looked solid at the back, midfield worked hard and we offered them very little. I believe it would be called a professional performance...... Now we just need 3 point on Saturday......
How things change in a month. We beat them 5-1 just a few weeks ago. Surely our ambition should have been beyond today’s result.
Im sorry I know our board have given up for the season but you lot are all ****ing negative. Weve gone to a team who are 8th and outplayed them. Pugh linked well was knackered after 60 so why MW didn't sub Ive no idea. The defence were as solid as ive seen all season and limited any chances and no costly individual mistakes. If we had someone who could put the ball in the net that could have been another 5! also not sure why MW didn't use Chair, Clarke etc when you could see a few were struggling at the end.....strange. Overall thoroughly disappointed we didn't win but not through lack of effort.
Hugill was particularly poor. Strange, considering how decent he looked after he joined. However, it's come to the point where Oteh might deserve a start. With that said, Hugill did actually track back and wasn't what I would call lazy. But he has just lost all form.
Always a risk with players finishing a loan. Might have something lined up or not but there’s not an awful lot of incentive for him as the one place he definitely won’t be is here.
In all probability if we were offered 0-0 before kick off we'd most likely snapped the hand off without thinking twice......
Let's be honest..... Swansea were garbage! Yes we defended well but it wasnt that difficult as they were so poor! I just feel that when we come up against a poor side like that and they were poor today, then we should be asking ourselves how we didnt beat them. If celebrating a clean sheet is the most positive thing about tonight then god help us!! I'm personally gutted that we threw away 3 pts by not tucking away our chances and not making any positive substitutions!
Only just on here now due to a new phone needing set up. Happy with a draw though sounds as though JH should have etc. A good away point especially as Wigan drew and Charlton pulled off a spectacular win.
Well there you go, thought there was a lot of good football played by both teams. We created most of the chances but Hugill missed that one early on, and we weren't lucky otherwise.
okay the morning after.... Swans were not very good and we really should have taken 3 points. I would have taken a draw before, however after seeing a poor Swansea team i feel a bit deflated. All those misses and wasted chances proves that we really do need a striker and of course miss Wells. Hugill should have done better and once again proves he is not the long term solution. I thought our defence played quite well as did the keeper. I cannot believe Swansea are play-off contenders? Due to many mistakes we have missed a chance this year. For me the Christmas /New year period ruined our season. We play nice passing football (sometimes) but don't seem to get anywhere. Warburton needs to address our problems in the summer and sort it rather than sound like a 'broken record'. Plenty of teams in this division don't have some of the quality we do but are doing much better. As for the board... I think there are problems behind the scenes and I wouldn't be surprised if TF leaves in the near future.
I completely agree that in the end we should be very happy with the point, and we were much more solid defensively. But I have to agree with WindsR about Hugill. From all I've seen of him he's simply not good enough. We need someone to take advantage of all the chances we create and put it in the net. I've seen no evidence so far that he's gonna be the one to do that.
Hugill did track back defensively but when you're playing one up top, it's a sacrifice - particularly when he doesn't convert many chances anyway. Question is, where are our goals going to come from now? Eze is easy on the eye but his laconic style reminds me increasingly of Luongo, and he was hardly a prolific scorer. BOS alone seems to me to have the skills, dynamism and determination to stick the ball in the back of the net. Let's hope others come back to form.
