Of course,it's results that matter, and imo we are being managed better than last season,or earlier this.
Any danger the match might be postponed. The weather over here is awful, Windier than the weekend and intermittent hail showers. How's things in the North East.
After a very shaky start by Parky, I agree. But as you say, your management is good if you get results..
Win a couple of games and you're the best manager in the world. Lose a couple and you're the worst manager in history...
According to my weather app (I play golf a bit and it's a vital bit of info) winds 24 to 47 mph temp 2°C (feels like -2)
can't see it mate.. Windy but bright over here.. Some wintry showers expected later, but can't see it stopping the match..
I wouldn't be surprised if we start the match with the same first eleven but bring on the subs earlier. Rochdale were pretty decent on the ball when we played them down their place but we are playing much better now so hopeful of a win but taking nothing for granted, this wind might spoil the game like.
I'm confident. 4 0 to the lads. If they start off like they played 2nd half on Saturday I see no reason why not!
Get at them from the start, and not let them settle, if we do that it could be a cruise, if not then it could be another ground out result. Either way I am optimistic we will get all three points.
A high press is the way forward this game. Rochdale play out from the back and their keeper can be a liability with the ball at his feet.
Sunderland coach, Sam Parkin, suggests that they will try something completely different against Rochdale tonight. Phil Parkinson's Sunderland host League One Rochdale at the Stadium of Light - could Kyle Lafferty and Charlie Wyke start together in attack? please log in to view this image Black Cats boss Phil Parkinson has always loved a target man. It was James Hanson to barrelled and battered Bradford City to the League Cup final in 2013 while Gary Madine played a key role as his Bolton side sealed promotion from the third tier three years ago. So it should be no real surprise that Wyke, the Middlesbrough-born 6' 2" number nine, has played the best football of his Sunderland career since Parkinson replaced Jack Ross in the dugout. The experienced tactician shuffled his pack in the final ten minutes of Saturday’s hard-fought victory against Ipswich Town, bringing Lafferty off the bench to partner Wyke in attack before Chris Maguire thumped home a late winner. With Rochdale travelling to Wearside tonight, Sunderland could go two-up-top from the start for the very first time. “People say that it’s harder to play that way (with two strikers) for the full 90 minutes, but I don’t necessarily think that’s the case,” said Parkin. please log in to view this image “Charlie’s got football intelligence and he’s good at bringing people into play, we saw that at the weekend. Kyle has also got good touch, but he’s a runner as well. He can run down the side of people, and I think that the pair of them together could be a threat, I really do. “It’s not just about that, it’s also about making sure that you have the right balance to the rest of the team around them, but I definitely think that it’s a viable option. You have to have the right balance, both in and out of possession, but it’s certainly not something that we’ve dismissed.” Northern Ireland international Lafferty is yet to really get going as a Sunderland player, but some of his best performances in recent years have come alongside a strike partner. The former Rangers man is a tall, rangy striker, but he is skilful too, capable of dropping off into a deeper role to link the play.
Id love to see that as they played well together against Ipswich they had the defense pulled all over for the last 10 mins.
I said to myself on Saturday if we won...I would go tonight... just picked the grandkids up from school and nursery.... it was a most unusual sight to see brass monkeys shivering and running for shelter. I recently got a new big smart telly...should I wimp out from going tonight and cough up a tenner for SAFCSEE?
Sounds interesting, we have options now probably for the first time since we came down to this level, that's a real positive.
Really interesting all that, I never bothered reading what Ross said because it was cliché bingo. I think Parkinson was right not to risk shaking things up against Lincoln, too risky. But we should be going out to totally overrun Rochdale, if not we have no reason to believe we should go up automatically.
