A lie is a strong word. Clearly there is not yet a deal as otherwise it would be announced. But if there is not yet a deal, how could you say for sure there would be? You can’t guarantee the other side will agree.

It’s just people playing games. If you are in negotiations with someone, you always want them to think you have other options. Saying you expect agreement by a certain time is just a tactic to try and make someone else hurry up.

I would be very surprised if FPP move their bid. It’s not really how these types of people operate. They do the DD, decide on the level they are happy to do the deal at and then emotionally switch off. If someone else outbids them, then good for them. You don’t run successful private equity funds by chasing deals at prices above your valuation and outbidding idiotic buyers. You put the bid in at the right level and wait for the seller to accept it.

The noise from FPP tells you all you need to know - there is none. They already made their decision. The offer is already on the table. Whether SD accepts it or not is out of their hands.

All the noise coming from SD is what I would immediately interpret as a seller trying to drum up interest and create the illusion of an auction. It wouldn’t phase me one bit. If there were a stream of buyers willing to pay more than he paid for the club, he would have already sold it. The more noise he makes, the less likely it is that he has other buyers.

"If there were a stream of buyers willing to pay more than he paid for the club."

There wasn't when he bought the club and things are slightly worse now ...

... he can't just expect a profit with no good reason.

Yeah exactly, your posts are exactly in line with what I think too.

He is clearly in negotiations with someone else and knows FPP are happy with their existing deal and not likely to change their mind any time soon, because why would they? Their position isn't what has changed, it's Donald's necessity to sell.

So he's trying to give it the old 'GOING ONCE...' line hoping it prompts the other party to offer him a bit more cash.

I honestly still think one of the most likely options is Donald staying on.

So If it’s true that he now wants £35m and £25m of that goes back into the club for parachute payments, does that mean that someone’s only really paying £10m for it because the going to have £25m in the bank after the deal is done, so in theory FFP have already paid that?

And FPP have responded by closing the LTD company. Then Donald has blinked and lowered his price (according to the press)

Please don't blow up, this is just an 'out of interest' question.

You've said a few times that I was either wrong to believe FPP were still interested in a takeover or that you thought there was only a 1% chance. I answered a question, from someone on here this week, saying I believe there's an 80% chance.

So, I've stuck my neck out and given an honest answer ...

... would you like to do the same and give your opinion as to where you think FPP are in regards to taking over?

    Thanks ...

If this is the case then really all we are waiting for is FPP to put 25 million into the club and it’s there’s, if that’s what the deal is hanging on shouldn’t that worry us abit that the won’t put that in

I wouldn't be worried at the moment.

If ,as Bob Cheval mentions, a deal has already been done then SD's 35 million may be what they were prepared to pay once we achieved promotion. SD wants it now whilst we're still in league 1 and FPP are saying no

But if the reporters are right 25 of that 35 mill will be going back Into the club, that really only means your paying 10m for the club and then putting 25 mill straight into the club

I'll be honest, the 25 million bit confuses me. If you're refering to the 25m that went to Ellis then that was never going to come back into the club as it was used to pay the SCMP debt which was the clubs debt to begin with. In other words, the parachute payments were used exactly how they were intended to be used.

    Yeah I agree with that

but When SD first took over he said Ellis short would only get para Payments if the couldn't Afford to buy the club,

this is what’s getting me confused, loads of reports coming out now saying he got the club with the parachute payments, so when he sells the club he has to put it back

so if that’s real someones only buying the club for 10m and FPP have already put that in

Is that a genetic trait or does it only come along once someone has made the decision to be a mag?
