Back in the local and this is on, I'm sure Aldo will be delighted to hear. Madonna one of his favourites from the best decade is on. Bless!

Another fantastic idea for a thread ER <ok>
Thompson Twins did some great songs, Doctor Doctor for example and Sister of Mercy: chilling but beautiful.

Some other great bands from the 1980s:
    A Flock of Seagulls
    Bronski Beat
    Teardrop Explodes
    Tears for Fears
    Human League
    Fields of the Nephilim

Some of the 1970s pop stars did their best work in the 1980s e.g. Sir Elton John and the late David Bowie.

Yup, agree with all of them!

I basically stopped following music in the mid 90's. Everyone has different tastes though which is great.

Used to love The Cure in the 80's.

The Cure were ****in brilliant. Learned recently they're still touring <yikes>

Unfortunately, the 80's also gave us U2. I'd have the 80's shot dead for that alone.

It's true the 80s had some utter dross. Terrible music tbh.

But it also had the Stone Roses, The Smiths, Tears for fears, Depeche Mode, Big Country, REM, New Order and UB40.

Plus there was no Prog Rock!

Aged 14 I was massively into The Cure, Big Country and U2.
U2 were fine up till The Unforgettable Fire but I think Bonio's ego went into overdrive around the time of the Live Aid gig.

U2 were/are ****. They were the Coldplay of their day.

I have a guilty secret tho.... I rather liked "Achtung Baby". May my God and my peers forgive me.

Have you heard their early singles and first two LPs?
I bought Coldplay's first LP. I must be beyond help.
