Yeah that's my worry. I'm not worried who buys us but I want them to be a) well off enough to invest in the club and at least be able to cover losses if required, b) to be competent businesspeople and c) hopefully not be dodgy ****ers. If we get another buyer from anywhere and they tick those boxes then great. With FPP however we had the boxes preticked! We know they're loaded their wealth isn't hidden or unknown. We know they're massively successful in business and we even have enough information to see that they seem to do a lot in terms of charitable work etc, they don't seem at all dodgy. We knew what we should expect from them and it was good, will any other buyer be as good or will Donald just be maximising his profit? That's the concern and that's why everyone is worried, he was about to sell to Mark Campbell and if its someone like that then it's league one for the foreseeable and championship struggling at best
The RAWA were still getting some info, they said discussions with the club had continued even after the statement so its not inconceivable. I just can't see it though, Sartori has seemingly had no interest lately, despite constantly being told he was going to be seen more he's not been here in months. Then there's the political thing where he's remained involved after the election (a senator now isn't he?). I know he could do it like, he'd have other people installed to run us, but it seems like a big commitment when he's not looked bothered recently. It would certainly come out of nowhere!
3 multi billionaires who've never been involved in football before or grew up in a culture where football has traditionally been given any importance plus potentially a 35 times billionaire from the same background? Just a guess like.
Do you think the dickhead sunderland supporters who hounded out Donald Have infact hounded out the American billionaires aswel According to Donald the Americans were going to buy the club with Donald and his team running the club Now with Donald hounded out it now looks highly unlikely There will buy
Why would mega rich owners need to have a football background? They can afford to appoint directors who can run everything for them. Do the rich Saudis looking to invest in UK clubs have a football background?
From ecstasy to despair in two days. It's the Sunderland way. Hopefully something good is hiding behind this.
No. When the takeover was initially being discussed (i.e. prior to the loan) Donald told a load of people at a talk in that he didn't know if FPP would want him and Methven to stay, so he wasn't always an integral part. They've now invested and presumably were looking to see how he did with the money, but I seriously doubt they just want Donald, probably more just a case that if he could prove he could run the club its a win win as it saves them recruiting. If the money and opportunity was right they wouldn't walk away because people don't want Donald
I'm not saying they do. I'm saying that FPP aren't the be all and end all. You could, for example, have billionaires who do have a football background.
Surely people are just disappointed because, on the balance of probability, its pretty unlikely that we're going to get better people involved? It's a forum where people discuss things as they happen, the initial reaction to billionaires seemingly pulling out is bound to be negative. If news breaks soon that someone better is getting on board the mood will quickly change again. Before FPP he was near to selling to Mark Campbell who couldn't even get a deal done for Falkirk though, so I'm not exactly wildly optimistic
Exactly. At this point Donald couldn't give a stuff who he sells to now imo. Think he would have done before folk turned on him. Think now he'll just sell up to any ****er as long as he gets his asking price.
