Yeah I've always dreamed of midtable finishes. What a time to be alive.

JWP's knee was cut to the bone apparently...nothing like as bad as ligament/muscle damage could be, but not a quick fix. :(

Hell yeah! If we manage to cock up the next three games we will be directly back in the fight.
I don't think we will. But I know how quickly it can change. This will be an exciting end to the season.

I still can't work out what's worse. Putting in a woeful performance and deservedly get beaten knowing that's all you can expect, or playing really well and still lose knowing that we missed our chance. I think that the fact I'm still pissed off this morning says the second choice is worse. And I didn't get the chance to do a helicopter.

I went out last night and didn't know the score until I got back to the car. On hearing we lost it in the last 12 mins, I'm starting to get annoyed. Then 5 live go over the match action as if it was from Spurs Radio with some cockney woman going on about Winksy did this and Winksy did that, ffs.....I'm really beginning to heat up now, off goes the radio and drive home at 100mph. Then like some sort of masochist I go through the match reports on here and the BBC, only to find out we were done by a dodgy pen and JWP got injured. This results in a feeling of anger mixed with depression that has carried on into this morning.

Whoever said "It's only a game" want's their ****ing head examined.

You should watch the 90min rerun today. If hearing about it on the radio annoyed you that much, this would send you over the edge! We absolutely dominated them for an hour. Made loads of chances, conceded a fluke, wasn't helped by a homer ref. Oh it was frustrating.

I had a similar experience IOAG, I was out and managed to look at my phone when it was 1-1. Next chance it was 3-2 FT, and like yourself, was torn between feeling angry at being beaten by an apparently dodgy penalty decision, and despair at losing JWP, my player of the season behind Danny.

Why do we do this to ourselves?

Does every fan go through this or is it just us Saints fans? Life is so unfair.

Mate, we were so good last night! If we play like this every week it will be an amazing end to the season.

Mid table is genuinely a massive achievement with this squad and where it was. If we can keep hold of Ralph and strengthen in the summer instead of weakening, we could be looking at "best of the rest" again before you know it

I was dreaming of an uneventful mid table season back when we were in the relegation zone tbh.

And I think we have more chance of getting in Europe through the league than we had of winning the cup.

Yeah you'd think at some point Liverpool are going to stop playing their kids and when they play their normal team I can't see anyone but them winning the Cup.

How often in, say, the last 20 years have a team outside the top 6 won either domestic cup? Without checking I'd say 5 or less out of a possible 40

Libby's just gutted we won't be winning the cup and league double again this season.

Everyone was saying that this time last year and that didn't turn out too well.

I don't think either is particularly likely tbh, reaching the quarter final of a cup is far more enjoyable than our season being over in February though.

There's absolutely no chance we get near 7th this season imo.

Spurs weren't a top side when they last won one :bandit:

... off the top of my head.

About a dozen more have made finals of course, ourselves (twice) included.

At least it wasn't a trip to Accrington awaiting us this time eh?

Oh I agree, chances are we finish in the bottom half but you never know. There's still plenty of interest in the season for me. Can Danny Ings finish top of the scoring charts for example.

More chance of that than we had of winning the cup imo. The cup requires consecutive wins against top teams while the league just requires us to keep form. If you can get excited about that that slim possibility you should be able to get excited about a possible push for europe.

If you consider the season over now you probably should have considered it over in August. I think the odds of achieving something this season are higher now than when the season started due to form, the state of the table and matches remaining.

Still slim, but it's always been slim.
