The Rocket Ronnie season we actually did the double over you. 4-3 at the Dell, and 2-1 at your place when Nethercott sliced the ball to Le God in the last minute for our winner.

My first ever away game was a 3-0 loss to Spurs, sat in the Spurs end. Horrible. <laugh>

My daughter, me and a mate said that after you scored you looked panicked...and we the scored.
After that we looked full of confidence and you looked the opposite...like you said, strange.
Genuinely pleased you lot recovered after the Leicester game.
The premier league needs decent teams

Just thinking, has anyone thought we may just have a very good season next year? Ralph seems to have the system and everyone on board, and what with a couple of signings, could be very interesting.

Anyway, let’s enjoy the rest of this one first!

I know, but ever hopeful! Something has changed though with the whole team.

For all the criticism of the defence and Vesty, as Ralph said

"We were not defending like we wanted to for the second goal and the third goal was too easy, they ran through our midfield like there was nobody”

You have to protect your CBs and for the equaliser we didn’t

That Stephens deflection was mad. Came off both his legs and went from wide left to bottom right

Our 2nd is my goal of the season so far

Pen was so difficult to see I thought it was right from one replay and wrong from another

We may have made them look average but they still have one or two players with the quality to score from a single opportunity and grab a win from a below par performance

Boufal needs to start taking his chances

It was really interesting actually, watching him get in a kerfuffle over whether to bring on.Adams or Obafemi. It was Michael for most of the time, until Shane got a bit of a knock, then suddenly it was Che.

I think under the circumstances, Obafemi might actually have been the better choice, to push them back a bit again with his pace..

While the match result last night might be disappointing, and we did deserve more, we should take enormous encouragement from the brilliant performance for probably 75 out of the 90 minutes. We made Spurs look ordinary, very ordinary, but our failure to take a few chances combined with a defensive dream state for a few minutes cost us and flattened what could have been a fantastic party.

Starting with JWP at right back, then loosing him was a disaster and with an out of shape defence we were always going to be vulnerable. No individual was to blame, we just couldn't hold things together for the whole match. What it has done is to show that not securing decent defensive back up in January is going to stop us from progressing the way we could have done this season.

We really are looking like a very good team and the fight, speed and commitment we now have is exceptional, exemplified by the Nathan Redmond- Danny Ings goal which was probably the best goal Saints have scored in the last 4 years.

If we provide solid midfield shielding for the defence and have quality backup then we will be absolutely flying next season, but we have to spend money. Ralph can not be expected to bring about a miracle on breadcrumbs and although he is an extremely loyal and honourable man, our club has to support him if we expect to keep him and enable him to feel valued.

...edited to include 'Starting with JWP at right back' rather than 'Starting with JWP'

Your absolutely right that with a few additions in the close season we could be a very, very good side next season, but that assumes that all out current starting squad stays together? I've had a nagging worry over recent weeks that Nathan Redmond is going to generate a lot of interest in the summer, plus Danny and JWP might be showing up on the radar as well?

And not for the first time. Is it a coincidence that his return has come as Charlie left?
That French lad at Everton seems pretty good. And there's a Kenyan player that Spurs seem intent on off loading ...

    Just saying

When those two played the centre backs could bring out deck chairs

You could probably add Jack Stephens to that list possibly more depending on performances.

Why does it? We're 6 points off 5th. It's highly unlikely we'll finish that high but we still have a shot of a top 6 finish.

Yeah, the league is tight and still lots could happen there for us. If JWP recovers quickly and KWP/Valery comes good, we could have a strong finish to the season.

Honestly, given where we were at the start of November you should be thrilled. Seriously, just enjoy the fact we're playing really good football again. Glass half full and all that.

Don't get that. We are scarcely putting in a poor performance at the moment....we will win enough games for this to be a good season, full of promise for next season. I want entertainment from Saints and commitment...and that's what we're getting.
