I don’t doubt that but if Boufal had put his relatively easy chance away then 1-3 and Spurs heads go down. Game over

Trouble was when we scored our second, we invited them on a bit and lost momentum. Great overall performance against a pretty average Spurs team.

Best stadium I’ve ever been to. **** home support.

I'm still very happy with our forwards and midfield and even with our full backs it's just Central defence if one of Jack and Bedders have to move or god forbid get injured that i'm concerned about, although the cup has gone now and we should have enough for a decent finish but it might've been so much better IMO.

Yep I suppose we'll have to take that Champions League place now - The Europa is so last century.

Southampton manager Ralph Hasenhuttl speaking to BT Sport: “It’s nice for Jose to say we were the best team but we have lost a good player tonight so we can only hope [James Ward-Prowse] is not that long injured.

“It’s not enough to dominate, we must use our chances and I think this is something we must learn. We gave it away to easy. In the end we defended not like we did before and they showed the quality in that moment and they end up scoring the goal and winning the game.

“It’s only about winning or losing in the cup. We must be quick to learn the behaviours of getting a result back so I’m not happy today.”

On Tottenham’s penalty decision: “I haven’t seen the penalty decision so I don’t know.”

I just hope that the Club has enough ambition to keep Hasenhuttl here next year.

I’ve calmed down a bit. Well played Saints. Great to watch at the moment. Just want us to finish the season super strong and see where it takes us.

Good news about James. Thought it would be so much worse.

Just on the way back, what an atmosphere.

    What a performance.

****ing unreal night. Looked like Gunn got the ball to me, although it was miles away. Then I went on twitter and saw that he definitely got the ball. Lucky, lucky spurs, we deserved that.

You know that feeling, when you out walking in the park and your toddler is running a few feet in front of you. And he/she trips over and scuffs the knee, then looks up at you with the tears welling in the eyes. And you get that horrible feeling in your stomach as you comfort them, that helpless hollow feeling.....that's what its like seeing James injured!
I need counseling! I don't want to see anymore pictures. <wah>

Just out of interest, what chance was that?

I don’t know why we are criticising the defence tonight. They played well. One lucky deflection and one dodgy penalty? I think we’re many of us guilty of believing we’re the best team in the world after back to back wins and then claiming we’re doomed after back to back defeats

In truth we are a team playing out of their skins at the moment and dishing out the most entertaining football I’ve seen for almost 4 years. And that is before the clear out to make room for Ralph’s own signings.

I just cant believe we lost again!

The league cup final, the San siro, and now tonight. Three big big games where we have outplayed bigger sides and come away with nothing :emoticon-0153-broke.

Next big cup game is ours.

Is Bedders suspended? BT said he was?
Have they made a mistake and forgotten the cut off?
    I'm confused.

On balance, the potential long term loss of JWP was a bigger blow than losing the game. So if the injury turns out not to be as bad as it looked, then I'm just about seeing a bright side.

Son can **** off though, and so can Jose.
