Fair play for your honesty, DH. I thought it looked a pen in real-time, but when I saw the replay, it was a dive. I just don't get how you can look at that with the benefit of hindsight and still think it should be given. Bizarre.
Tanguy's performance was a real cause for concern. This is a guy who definitely isn't injured and has been in full training for 3 weeks, clocking up 25 mins against City on Sunday. Yet he looked done as soon as that first rough tackle came in and he fell awkwardly on his back. Totally off the pace and seemingly reluctant to get stuck in. It truly is incredible that the guy passed his medical, given everything Maureen has said about him. We can blame Deschamps all we like, but there definitely seems to be something drastically wrong with his physiology. Currently, and it pains me to say, but he is a complete waste of money.
I agree, but he had the goal at his mercy, the ball was under control. There was contact, but it looked minimal, I have to believe he wouldn't risk passing up a certain goal to probably get a penalty
Like someone above said, his reaction when he was taken off and sat on the bench was like a realisation that he’s finished.
I’ve seen the Son pen video and it looks very, very marginal. Even with VAR you get those that could go either way sometimes, I suppose. We’ve had a few for or against. Yeah I’m now incredibly concerned. There’s no doubt that he’s technically fantastic and has a lot of ability but there are massive questions now about his mind and body. Ultimately it might be that you can’t build a team around him as he can’t be relied on. Could be we have to plan for a future around GLC, Gedson and a proper DM
I wouldn't write him off as a 'complete waste of money' just yet, CK. It's his first season in the Prem and he needs to adjust to everything. The environment, country, league, team-mates, life etc. I don't know the extent of his injury issues or whether they will hinder him regularly throughout his time with you. But he has a lot of talent and provides extra dynamism from midfield - something that you don't currently have without him. IF he can get over these niggling injuries, he has the potential to be a superb player for you. Right now, it's still far too early to determine whether he'll be a success story or not.
It’s a concern but I do hold hope once this “global fitness regime” kicks in he’ll be better for it. With the amount of injuries he’s already had plus the fact it looks like he was overweight from the start, it’s going to impact his season - see Lamela - hopefully he just isn’t following down the same route as the Argentine and this season is a one off. As Brunel said though, way too early to write him off. I’d probably say of all our new signings, Sess has been the most disappointing so far. Looks very out of place whether it be LW or LB. Thankfully he’s got a load of time on his side to improve though I wouldn’t be completely surprised if he was loaned out in the summer.
Even for someone as cold hearted as me, this was a tough watch: Been a phenomenal player for us but I think even he knows his legs have seemingly aged 5 years over the summer and he isn’t the same player. Think he’s gone at the end of the season, can’t see us offering a new deal. Best CB since Ledley and someone I’ll happily call a legend.
Tanganga showed his lack of experience by showing Ings his strongest side but he will learn Moura was good tonight...busy busy. I know Son has scored 4 in 4 but I don’t think he is ‘in form’. Hard to explain
Ndombele concerns me seems like he needs a good shake Got all the talent in the world but seems like he’s almost too scared to play the game at the required standard but he’s definitely got it in him
Tbh...that's how he injured that geezer in the Everton game...he looked like he was going to from where we sat in corner but chsnged his mind....but I might be over thinking it.
It’s very possible that like the player returning from injury is hesitant in going in for similar tackles to what caused the injury...I can imagine it’s the same for a player of Sonny’s nature tbh when it comes to going for a tackle in a manner that caused a major injury
Tanganga been on the Radio...sounds like a down to earth humble kid. keeps his head down and he can have a long career for us
I'm sure you're aware Colin, there are subtle and professional methods in which to take a yellow, under the circumstances he should have taken one. Doesn't matter now but could've cost us dear. IMHO.
