Did not see the game, but all summary info I looked at suggested that Citeh had their own version of the "Battle of the Bridge" yesterday. IMHO they have been long overdue such a visit by Nemesis (in addition to her using VAR on them whenever we play them ) . The red card no doubt tipped the balance in Spurs favour. The Spurs attacking threat was terrible, but you cannot argue with the clinical lethality (love the shots attempted + goals scored stats for the last 2 PL encounters between us ) . And well done to Bergwijn for scoring such a tidy goal on his debut. Less pressure on him now re settling in to the PL run-in melee.
Btw, **** Kyle Walker. I saw that snake trying to have a go at Hugo during the raucous after the penalty save. And then he tries signalling offside to the referee for our second... Despite the fact he’s in front of Son .
As a counterpoint in Walker's favour, he was respectful to the fans before the game and the players after it. His name got a very mixed reception in the pre-match buildup, yet he still came over and applauded the corner nearest to him before kickoff. I think that the way he went about leaving was ****, but he's been quite decent whenever he's come back.
Yeah it's respectful to an extent although I'd say that's also partly because there's a good portion of the shelf side that are applauding him as he jogs over, so he'd look a real dick if he ignored them. He can still suck a fart though lol.
Ah yeah, should've mentioned I meant from second half. He used to do it at Old WHL too, followed by his Triple H impression of spraying water out of his mouth. A guy two or three rows in front of me was surrounded by people who were also clapping, he couldn't be any more subtle in his attempts to scream "****er" at the guy . I don't boo him, though I absolutely won't applaud him.
Yeah, I really don't get the whole water thing. He's like a kid pretending that he's a dragon or something!
Funny and interesting to watch but it's actually quite amazing someone (presumably) sits through a whole 90 minute football watch watching Jose Mourinho
I think as you've said it is still early to call. Performances like yesterday can certainly give hope of a good/ great future for him but to be the party pooper, four seasons in and his good to bad game ratio is probably worse than Jenas'. Jenas could boss a NLD then be one of the worst on the pitch for the next 5 or 6 games. Lo Celso looked great again though and when Ndombele came on he grabbed an assist within a minute. When those two are fully fit and settled, they're going to be producing some absolute madnesses in central midfield. I'm as excited about watching these guys grow as I was watching Modric/ Bale/ Eriksen/ Kane when they were turning into top class players.
I think the Sterling red card would have been spun very differently by the media (and probably treated differently by VAR) if it had been Dele on Sterling. I also think that if it was Dele he would have been sent off. What surprises me is that even if the ref missed it (and he must have seen something as he gave a yellow), then VAR had a very clear view of the incident, and the evidence seems overwhelming. Except to the VAR officials of course! That was an incredibly dangerous "tackle" and should have been punished accordingly, yet I've heard a lot of people say it wasn't a red because he didn't really mean to do it and there was no malice. Well that should be irrelevant, I suspect very few challenges that get reds are intentional. The only conclusion I could make is that VAR are cowards because they didn't have the balls to send off such a high profile player so early in the match.
"It's a really dangerous tackle. It could break a leg. It could break an ankle." - Graeme Souness. Also, it's a yellow card!
