Pace, work rate, readiness both to get forward and run back. I’ve never been his greatest fan, but he’s improved over the time, and I’m not sure why tf we’re letting him go.
You know he is on loan right? They'll probably be paying over half his wages. Its quite clear we arent keeping Hoedt, he is just too **** (vs his wages) to sell.
Leicester allegedly bid significant money for Vestergaard, so they didn't get the memo. I agree Maya earned the right to go as he saw fit. But turning down the chance to cull vestegaard seems a little daft. Maybe Maya leaving forced the issue ? Done now....roll on summer
If it's true we turned down £15 mill or thereabouts for Vesty, I'm actually reassured by that. Maybe we're not desperate to sell literally everything from the corner flags to the U14s team bus. If someone thinks he's worth more than Leicester offered, fair enough. Maybe he's still part of Ralph's plans. In which case, I'm not going to object. Let's not forget most of us football geniuses in the stands were ready to give up on Jack Stephens until very recently.
Yeah sure, Royal Antwerp and how much do you think they’ll be contributing? 25%? I doubt much more which doesn’t eat into the fiver much.
Whilst we are hardly throwing money around, I have seen no sign that we are on our uppers. The aim was to be self-sustaining (bad news for those who thought throwing money at it was the only way to be considered a successful club)….we lost our way and have ended up with players on our books that we neither want nor can shift...but we won't be the only club in that position. The board now seem to be attempting to rectify it in a sensible manner....more mistakes will be made, but that's life. Let the man/woman/other who has never made a financial mistake or loss throw the first tweet.
That's a fair point, I've always backed Stephen's to be fair. I don't rate Vestegaard at all but we are where we are....Leicester scouts must know more than me...which isn't hard.
I see where your coming from regarding Saints financial status, but to turn down an offer of £15 mill. for Vesty seems madness. I don't rate the bloke at all, so an offer £15 would have been enough for me.
Theoretically , we are actually working with a weaker squad following the transfer window. With the players going out on lone and only one player being brought in, we now have a smaller squad. I don't think we could have actually improved much in a January window as teams are generally reluctant to sell. However, it is odd that Maya was allowed to go whereas I would have let Vestergaard leave, especially for the money offered.
I dont find it odd one bit. Yoshida is out of contract at the end of the season. We had the opportunity to earn some money from it. He wanted to.leave to.play football ... after 8 years of service we owed him that. We werent going to lose the both of them.
..And Vestergard may still turn out alright. Remember a guy called Jack Stephens? "He is not even League One standard" is one quote I remember reading....
He’s making it at a level all of his own at the moment. He could probably be the best goalie and striker In The squad too if we played him there
I give him til Easter to have a positive impact. If things haven’t improved by then I’ll be calling for his head.
So we don’t have a single player under 23 who can play midfield at the club? Our u23s aren’t good enough to play for the U23s? Needs a bit of explaining that signing.
