Only 9 points above the dreaded zone.
    Positives:
Clarke looked good when he came on.
    Ball was very good.
    Masterson is very comfortable.
It's Feb 1 and I have had a dry January.
    Errm. that's it, unfortunately. (hick)

Sad to hear that. In fact sad about everything today. I'm only an hour away so nearly went as could not find Any one to take my ticket. Glad I didn't to witness no shots on target! So Bees win 5:1 AWAY and we can't muster one shot on target at home. Hard not to feel rather sad about that. We can only hope for a change in fortunes but it is definitely going to be a long haul to May.

We were ok second half. Not great but ok and desperately lacking a poacher.

Warburton once again left it late to make any subs, taking off the once again lightweight ineffective Amos who once again added nothing in his obligatory hour. No idea why you’d bring Pugh on. Bloke is ****. It won’t make any highlights but Clarke set him up brilliantly for a first time shot from about ten yards and he took a completely unnecessary touch and lost it.

Clarke was surprisingly good. Much needed decent delivery from wide.

Bristol City as always were well drilled and highly adept at killing the game which suited a pedantic referee perfectly. Five minutes for injury time was scandalous. Anyway, nine points ahead of Wigan now and we still have to go there, Charlton and Luton. I can’t say I’m confident.

The gamble of thinning out the squad and not adding to it could well result in a very nervous end to the season, especially if we pick up two or three injuries.

Barnsley and Luton looking done for but others down there are picking up points, it's gonna be the usual squeaky bum time till we muster 50 points, it's the same every f*cking year now...

We were very poor first half and only marginally better second half. Lots of possession but no end product, one shot on target the whole game sums up what might become the norm for the rest of this season.

Best forget about that defeat and performance and get back to doing the basics at training on Monday, namely pass move & shoot on target.

Another hugely frustrating afternoon - 71% possession is meaningless if most of it is spent passing sideways and backwards. For much of the game every first touch seemed to be a negative one. Much better towards the end of the game when we showed a bit of urgency, but I never really had the feeling that we were going to score. Their CF was a handful and got a good goal. but City nicked a result really. Ball was our best player.

The one positive I thought was Bristol looked no better than us. We had chances that we didn’t take.

I thought Masterson was our best today, he is doing really well.

I think many of the fans on this forum, some of whom weren't even at the game, are being overly critical of yesterday's performance.

I enjoyed the game. I thought we were competent and combative. Bristol may have edged the first half but we created a number of dangerous situations in that period without quite turning them into goal-scoring opportunities. We were the better team in the second half and did create a handful of chances which, with more clinical finishing, would have given us a well-deserved share of the points against an impressive Bristol side. Certainly, City will have been giving themselves a big pat on the back for surviving the sort of pressure that we subjected them to in the second half.

Most of our players put in a solid and commendable shift, scoring 6 out of 10 on the Rodneyometer, even Kane and Amos of whom I have been critical in the past. The pick of the bunch was probably Ball (who looked hungry for the ball and wanted to make things happen), BOS (albeit not quite scaling recent heights) and Masterson. Also, a special mention for the much-maligned Jack Clarke who came on in the 81st minute and put in a cameo performance which, had it been for a longer period, would have earned him a man of the match award. The only negative, for me, was Pugh who continues to disappoint: I really don't see what he offers. I would also direct some slight criticism at Kelly for the Bristol City goal. My seat was directly behind the flight of the header. It was firmly hit but the line was quite close to Kelly. He put up one hand to save it when two would have probably done the job. On the positive side, he pulled off a good save in the first half, low to his right, and his clearance kicks were confident and powerful, occasionally too much so.

I'd also like to mention Nahki Wells, who received a deservedly warm reception but then, after coming on, proceeded to act in a fairly knobby fashion, singling out Eze in particular for some rough treatment. He went down in my estimation.

I continue to be slightly annoyed by the frustration shown by our fans towards our ball-retaining, passing game. Sure, I would prefer to see a slightly higher percentage of passes going forward rather than sideways or backwards but this will come as we grow in confidence that we can do this thing and more players make themselves available to receive those forward passes. It's a good habit to get into, rather than reverting to hit and hope. It is the future, the way forward, this is the way the best teams play, BE PATIENT!!!.

Finally, for all my positivity, it has to be recognised that our recent form has left us sixteenth in the table and only the most deluded happy-clapper will be looking towards the top of the table when, in fact, the lower reaches beckon. We can't take survival for granted; we need to show the sort of fight we showed in the second half yesterday. And then some.

I like the passing game, and certainly don't want hit and hope, but what we saw for most of yesterday's game was terribly negative. There was one period in the first half where we played countless passes sideways and backwards before working the ball back to Kelly, who kicked it into the stand! That's not how the best teams play. We can be electric when playing on the break, but when the opposition sit back we look short of ideas as to how to break them down. Eventually, someone has to take responsibility for playing the positive pass, or taking a man on. The best teams do play a passing game, but they do it with positivity.

I wish we had a player who could just be a **** and stop attacks before they get threatening like Wells did. Proper nonce team Bristol City with a proper nonce manager though I mean that as a compliment rather than the way a Reading or Brentford are a bit noncey.

Really need two. There are the good nonce teams like Bristol and Preston. ****house teams if you will.

Then there are the bad nonce teams whose players and fans should be banned from public spaces like Reading and Derby.
