I reckon the EU will dissolve in a couple of years. Germany will be next after losing our financial input, and there’s already mutterings in France from Le Pen about Frexit. Out of the other member states, they all take out more than they put in. Fully expect some painful teething problems for a year or two, then all should be well hopefully. Time will tell.
Will be watching the live stream from Parliament Square tonight from here in Istanbul. Will raise an EFES or five to Sir Nigel.! Onwards and Upwards!! Next step..... World Domination!! Blofeld.... " No, I expect you to die Mr. Verhofstaad"
I was a remainer and would have preferred the vote to go the other way 3 years ago, but I'm glad today has finally arrived. Now we can forget about the 52% and 48% and try being the 100% working together over the next 11 months so we're ready for January 1st and beyond.
Funnily enough, even Le Pen has dropped talking about Frexit once they saw what a shambles Brexit has been. The truth is that nothing changes today, except that we don't have any say in what the EU decides any more. It will be interesting to see what happens when Boris suddenly realises that he has to find an actual answer to the important questions: Do we have free trade with the rest of the world, but tariffs on EU goods? Or do we follow EU trade rules without having any say? Do we have frictionless just-in-time trade with the EU or set our own regulatory standards? Do we have a border on the island of Ireland or down the Irish sea? I fought against the referendum result because that's not how UK democracy should work. Now we've had a general election, we at least have someone who will take responsibility for delivering what they promised. So I accept that result - and genuinely hope that I'm wrong and Boris will succeed. I still think it was a bad idea overall, but I see the positives, and we might as well make the best of it.
here lies another reason hasnt been sold. once everyone cant afford to go the club will be finished just like boro..
The majority voted to leave though. Isn’t that exactly how democracy should work? You fought to remain, that’s your choice and of course you’re entitled to it. A lot of questions still to be answered, time will tell. At least the bitterness (not from yourself) is dissipating and hopefully everyone will move on.
