"Honda has confirmed it will close its Swindon car plant in 2021, with the loss of about 3,500 jobs.

The Japanese company builds 160,000 Honda Civics a year in Swindon, its only car factory in the EU.

Honda said the move was due to global changes in the car industry and the need to launch electric vehicles, and it had nothing to do with Brexit."

Vauxhall is owned by PSA who are constantly threatening, well they're French, to move production. The last I heard the whole new 308, DS and Astra production line was opening in Eastern Europe. Cheaper labour than over here and who cares about the quality of what they produce?
Brexit will mess it up because they might have to pay tariffs to get their cars back over here.

There are headlines and there is the truth. I try to find the truth.

I often wonder about this, OLOF. If the vegans have their way what's going to happen to all the animals that would normally be slaughtered and eaten? The national herd would increase alarmingly and with it the amount of methane being expelled into the atmosphere. Would the vegans then advocate to have animals culled or simply buy gas masks? I'm doing my bit to save the planet buy eating all the beef/pork/lamb and chicken that I can.

Because Boris now has a clear majority we're in a much stronger position to negotiate the kind of deal we should have got in the first place. The problem has always been the dissenting voices telling us what a terrible mistake we're making.
The reason that we're struggling to get a deal together now is because it's taken this long to get the remain contingent out of the way.
If everyone had got on board with it from the start we could have got exactly what we all want, a trade deal that is the same as our membership but without regulatory alignment unless you're trading with the bloc. An end to free movement and no rule from Brussels. Basically, a trade deal, not jumping into bed together, a Common Market.
You will say, "but you would never have got that."

We pay £39bn a year to buy more from them than they buy from us.

Read that again because its been lost on most remainers.

I don't need an MEP, I've got an MP.

If things in Europe aren't bad enough, think what it would be like withe the loonies in charge of the asylum. You couldn't even make a decision about whether to stay in or leave.

If any of the sad whining losers on here don't want the newly minted 50 pence pieces to commemorate our leaving of the corrupt EU, like these bitter and twisted losers below, send them to me, i'll gladly spend them for you<laugh>

I had a couple of restaurants in Canberra. One booking was "do you cater for Vegetarians?" Yes we do, not a problem. Cooked up three veggie meals. End of the evening the meals were still there. "What happened to the vegetarians on table six?" "Oh, they had the fish and chicken." Vegetarians, I hate the bastards. Vegans I can handle, though I still think they are a bunch of wa*kers.
