Because he cares about our future.........................................................particularly if he owns the club shop and 6 years worth of advertising rights. He wouldn't want the name of his luxury brand associated with an underperforming club.
I tend to believe this rumour because I will be (mildly) sickened at the thought of being a PR exercise for the ****ing Saudi ****ing barbaric royal family
The key thing here is the club are saying nothing, again. Even the usual lines trotted out from sources about being annoyed it's in the media. Aside from wall street journal reporting a bid there's been few differences to last time. Company set up for acquisition- happened last time. Mike told accountants expect NUFC off the books-happened last time. SD signs appear to dissapear- happened last time. Just need a new Midhat and we've got full on deja vu here, even the planespotters are back. I won't contemplate anything until the club starts speaking. Silence is golden when there's a few days left of the window and you've only spent about 2 Mill on loans.
Its almost done. Apparently reason Klopp won’t go to the Shrewsbury replay is because he has an interview in Riyadh that week.
I would be far too intimidated by the Saudis to say no to them. If they have this big grand strategy, imagine Ashley saying "nah mate, I don't actually want to sell." The last person who defied the Saudis was chopped up in Turkey. I'd just take my £340m and run.
That's the one thing that does make me uncomfortable about this whole deal. We're talking about a regime which doesn't give a **** about human rights, couldn't care less what the rest of the world thinks about them and places earning money above any pretence at morality. Still, if the Saudis are still willing to deal with them despite all that then who am I to complain?
Press association ratified reports there are three parties bidding. Nothing else is known, everything else is guesswork (reports of Kenyan being involved, for example). Again seems like archaic, pissy tactics from Ashley to drive a few more quid out. I would be entirely unsurprised if we “accept” a bid from Kenyon/GACP, then mysteriously end up selling to the Saudis anyway. Mike Ashley, knows the price of everything and the value of nothing.
Wouldn't be surprising to end up with NUFC owned by Kenyon and GACP, debt loaded to the eyeballs but letting MA keep more of his advertising and merchandising rights than Saudi would have allowed.
The sales of tea-towels before the first home game will go through the roof if this comes off Ordering my camel, sheep's eyeballs and underage wife as I speak!
