Normally a Justice of the Peace or a reputable Dentist like the Waley-Cohen chap but I'll turn a blind eye on this occasion.

Southwell 17.55 Wasntexpectingthat won for me last time with any amount in hand and would be a wheelbarrow job if this was Newcastle. First time on this surface and I can't help wondering why. Half expecting a market drift. Is this to get his latest 8 lb rise back down? Two massive dangers in Gulliver and Zylan so giving him a miss this time

Disappointing as I’m sure Princess Camilla would have been only too keen to stamp my credentials. May I point out though that this does come second hand and not from a chap wearing threadbare jodhpurs and pushing a rusty old bicycle either (I know so many, on here, hold great faith in such types). And it’s not for today but several weeks in the future.

Anyway, what it was is that a chum (to put him into some sort of context it’s the chap who used to part-own Mighty Moose) was at Ascot for ‘Clarence House’ day. Lieutenant Henderson won the ‘lucky last’ with Falco Blitz. No great celebrations in the winners enclosure just rather dignified delight but in the runners-up booth there was, according to him at any rate, unbridled joy as it was felt that this participant was now spot on for a tilt at the ‘EBF Final’ at Sandown Park on the Saturday before the Festival.

He had a quick chat over the ‘rails’ and connections were making absolutely no secret of the fact that he was far from tuned up for this Ascot run but would be 100% by early March. In fact they look liked they were celebrating winning at Sandown already! He even said he hadn’t seen such ebullience on a racecourse in years!

One postscript to the run was that BLACKFINCH, for that is he, was lowered a pound by the assessor to a mark of 125. If this caused connections further joy I can’t report (although I’m guessing it did).

Neither he nor I have any connection with the yard whatsoever so there won’t be any further updates re the animals wellbeing but this is a fascinating one to look out for providing Blackfinch remains sound between now and the first Saturday in March.

Ahh there you are Sir Barney...was shocked to see zero posts from you on Saturday with the beast Santini running..especially as you must be close to being it's top admirer..

Was a good race but not a lot between him and BDM. I see Nige came out and said after the race that BDM s odds were ridiculous when in all likelihood not much between them.... I m quite happy with my 50/1 ante post voucher anyhoos as it seems Nige was pointing to fact he might of needed it a bit..I guess it's all about March for them this season with BDM.

Things have been Hectic with a capital ‘H’ lately but hopefully everything has now calmed down and I should be on more regularly now.

I still think Santini is the best staying chaser since Kauto Star and hopefully he will prove it in March (and several terms thereafter as well).

    afternoon,fellas!hope,youre well.

    newcastle,2 10:

this has quite a competitive look, and most arrive here in good heart, but i think, this may go to CAPARD KING.has been revitalised by his Yard, and won well two starts back.couldnt defy his new mark last time out,but it was still a good effort in third, and the winner is a fast improver,so he probably faced a tough Task there.decent shout today.

Given your moniker is it just jumps racing that you bet on or do you also like the flat?

well,i have to say,i love this game at all,so also flat racing, but my heart is with the Jumpers,to be honest.its just the longevity of that Sport, they get Closer to your heart over the years.and how About you?whats your favourite Season?

    down royal,3 20:

a rather modest race, with Fresh form thin on the Ground, but i ll take a Chance on GOLDEN SUNSET here.although he couldnt back up his good run in second a few starts ago, that was still a good effort, and the winner has boosted the form since.so,as hes still unexposed as a chaser, could be more to come..e w possible.

I much prefer the flat, short distance big field sprints much more exciting. But do have to say nothing beats Cheltenham. Reason I ask is because Nass has a little flat racing thread on the forum and as you seem to really enjoy your racing I wondered if you'd seen it. All weather so not great quality but worth a look none the less
