My thought process was more they have probably discussed this for months and it only got "leaked" tonight.

The entire deal was only leaked yesterday. I think people are being impatient saying it should be done and dusted now.

What would you lads prefer if given the choice, just curious.

    - Us to remain a premier league team for the rest of our existence fighting relegation year after year aiming for 10th place in which being classed as an achievement.

    Or

    - We got new owners, won the prem a few times maybe a CL and FA cup but then the owners somehow ****ed us over and left us broke, meaning we got sent down to say League 2.

Not actually sure which I’d choose.

Yes but it’s apparently been going on behind the scenes since October.

Few months for a 340 million trade.

It's not outlandish. We are suddenly impatient when we had no idea it was happening til yesterday.

How long was the Man City negotiation going? No idea. I can guarantee a few months.

I doubt it's unreasonable impatience most people are feeling and displaying. More likely a complete distrust of MA and expectation that he will fail to keep his word and sell up even if his seemingly fictitious asking price is met.

Just to clear up, the 10% for Ashley was a Twitter invention, not from any reputable source.

Both sides are allegedly unhappy at the leak, but to offer my take, leaks in takeovers often drive the price up - my belief is it's a cheap tactic from Ashley to get an extra £10m. My only hope is that this time, whatever way Ashley moves the goalposts will be covered by someone, given the money.

The press coverage this time is hugely different. We have Reuters commenting tonight, with one journalist giving a brief snapshot as to why the Saudi purchase of NUFC makes sense. Amnesty International are even involved - don't remember them bothering when BZG were in the mix.

    From Reuters:
** Saudi Arabia’s sovereign wealth fund is in talks to buy English soccer club Newcastle United for about 340 million pounds ($447 million), a source familiar with the situation told Reuters, confirming a Wall Street Journal report.

just to back ye up Roland-.

This does sound so much more promising than other rumours, but I'll believe it when it happens. Maybe not even then....

Why would KSA need Staveley or the Reuben brothers as investors in the deal, doesn’t make any sense!! Apparently Bin Sulman bought a yacht for 440 million so why would he need partners to buy Newcastle? Surely with all his money he would just buy it outright?! Another timely bullshit story I’d imagine

I may be clutching at straws but maybe, just maybe, this rumour could turn out to be true. He has slowly been enhancing his personal stake and now that he has got the land above the Metro sold to build a casino/hotel and has ensured we have only limited fees for any outgoing players, apart from Maxi or Dubs( but they are on long term contracts) whilst a lot of players have not had renewed contracts yet. He may have decided enough is enough and wants out. At least that is my hope.

Mike apparently asked for proof of interest and funds necessary to not only complete the purchase but also fund the transfer requirements. Once the Crown Prince had completed the sale of 1.5% of Saudi Aramco for US$26billion in mid December Mike agreed to move forward.

Its all becoming clear now. The IPO of Saudi Aramco was nothing to do with diversification of the Saudi economy and everything to do with funding Newcastle Utd.

it helps with the fit and proper person test if there are several owners as the PL will view the power as more spread out. It’s actually similar to City where a few investors actually own it, although Mansoor owns the majority.

The other obvious question is why the hell does Ashley give a **** about how much money a purchaser has to invest in the club beyond acquisition?

he doesn’t stand outside SD asking to look in people’s wallets when they walk into his junk shops.
