Not sure if there are any NBA fans out there but apparently Kobe Bryant has died in a helicopter crash a short while ago. One of the greatest ever players imho. RIP Kobe
Fair enough. I understand. I'll re-phrase: His attorneys, via the media, bullied a victim of non-consensual, aggressive, violent and injurious sex (all admitted by Kobe) into settling out of court despite the Colorado prosecutors saying that they believed the case was extremely strong and would likely end in a conviction. Anyway, RIP, he seemed like a good guy that apart and his on-court play was sometimes the best ever. Obviously a tragic situation.
Very sad. Some footage on twitter of them talking and he obviously doted on her, they were on the way to a basketball academy he runs, he'd become a massive advocate of womens basketball too.
Raptors and Spurs both took a deliberate 24 second shot clock violation on their opening possesions as a tribute. Classy
Awful awful tragedy for all concerned from families of victims to fans of KB. On a personal ( selfish ) level it further fuels my fear of flying which I realise is misplaced from a statistical perspective. With my journey planned for march/april it just heightens my apprehension. Oh well
I was watching this and it got weirder, when the game started properly, the ball got stuck before either team could score a point.
I ****ing love the NBA and Kobe was a massive part of it when I was getting into it off the back of Jordan. There’s a strong argument for him as GO.A.T And what he’s given back to community and the game is incredible, he was pretty much involved in everything in the area related to the game. Its madness that folk fly about in helicopters for me, but that’s another debate. Doubly saddening that’s his daughter was on board, you could see the pure love he had for the kids court side and beyond, it’s an awful thing to have happened. Legends never really die. The class of the league shone mind, players, teams, crowds, everybody did something to show their respect, and that’s one area you can’t knock American sport, they have some ****ing classy folk in that league.
Awful news but have to confess that I had never heard of the bloke before it was on the news none stop..
Everyone seems to have conveniently forgotten that the bloke was, by his own admission, a rapist who "realised later" that he did not have the consent of his victim...
