New poster here, toon fan, born and raised in Gateshead unfortunately now living down near Birmingham for work! Season ticket holder for 7 years before moving. Highlight for me was meeting King Kev in staples when I was a young lad, where he told me and my dad he wouldn’t leave till we won the league, cheers kev. I was at the match yesterday and it reminded me I’ve probably been lucky in having to stay away, that was sh’t. Longstaff (Sean) literally should be sent out on loan for the rest of this season as yesterday was infuriating. It’s like since he had links to Man United he thinks he’s too good for teams like oxford to even try. So lazy and lacklustre it was unreal, I thought Joelinton actually had a decent game. We need a Maddison/Grealish type player. Someone who separates defence from attack, someone who runs with the ball. Oxford’ll do us in the replay, which is mesmerising considering Joelinton cost most than their entire club. Another day being a toon fan, the joys.
If this takeover happens we are gonna have quite a few new fans turning up out of nowhere... Mostly the London and Greater Manchester area I imagine
Can’t be worse than down here, was in a bar in Birmingham near where I moved to last year, watching us v Spurs, a bunch of spurs fans with Brummie accents shouting sh’t at me and my lass for wearing a toon top in Birmingham. Yet they’re spurs fans, the irony
Typical north eastern bigotry. Surrey is only in Greater London not London. Plus you just ignore Jak’s dedication to Man U all the way from Jakarta.
We are about to be the richest club on planet earth. Paid for by Uncle Salam. So Jaks gonna have to rethink his allegiances
Indeed. If it happens I'm gonna be spending all my time saying I've supported the Toon since the early 90s.... Ironically when we were decent so I'm going to be fighting a losing battle
I'm in the same boat. I'll be defending myself for ever. My friends dad has been a lifelong Man City fan. So he's supported them when they were rock bottom in league one I think? Now everyone takes the piss cos he's a glory hunter.
To be fair I haven't kept abreast of things on here. The people I know who moaned about the football under Rafa, think the football now is at best only slightly better. But that could be just because Bruce is amassing more points per game. I don't think its fair to lump Pardew in with Rafa and Bruce. Its not comparable. The football was far better and far more entertaining under Pardew. And overall he did a better job and achieved better results over the course of his stewardship. Yes we had much lower ebbs as a result of how we distributed the money (spread less thin than Rafa and Bruce). But the highs were just a different league watching the likes of Ben Arfa, Cisse, Ba, Cabaye, Tiote and co.
Anyone know when tickets will be out for the replay? I see the home fans share the north stand with home fans, anyone thinking of getting tickets through oxford? Did the same when we played Fulham as they have a mixed end too.
Replay is televised on BBC 1 a week today. Gives the country a chance to watch us make oxford look like Barca
