We came out of East Stand 7-12 and were met with a wall of people standing still, we stood near the entrance for a few minutes then I asked the steward if we could go back in to walk round the stadium and come out another entrance but he refused to let us in. For me, only being a shorty the thought of getting in the middle of that mass of people scared me to death, then some idiots at the back started shouting "get moving" etc and I honestly feared there would be someone injured in the crush. We hung on longer then when the steward moved went back in the stadium and came out West Stand entrance and it was all clear. It was dangerous and badly planned.
I know he didn't seem to do a lot, but just watching his balance, he just seems to have a good balance, which all the better players have. It will come down to his mentality, if he is given a good run of games, and has the right attitude I'm sure he will be an important player for us.
Tough luck City. Better side for long periods. What gets my back up are the patronising ****wits on BT. They want shagging with a ragmans trumpet.
More a sort of attacking midfielder I think, might depend on what McCann tells him to be! But as Jon ExA says he does seem to have some natural poise and ability and he does seem to get stuck in a bit despite looking like a waif!
Really enjoyable early evening at the football. Gladdened my heart to see a full stadium, great atmosphere and even the return of introducing each stand was forgiven. It was an honourable defeat in that City gave it a go right from the start - at our best we played some lovely stuff but the different in overall squad quality showed. Also, we’re just not consistent enough. However, if we played like that for every match for the rest of the season we’d be bossing the Championship. Stewarding was abysmal. Presume the opening of West Upper meant drafting in the Saturday job kids, but they were badly distributed to areas where you need people with nous. We had a teenager in E6 who was completely clueless and stood and watched a fairly inebriated individual stand at the top of the stairs with remains of pint in hand while he flung his arms and sung to anyone but the players in the pitch. People quickly sussed the steward didn’t know the rules around alcohol and were soon nipping out and bringing their pints to their seats. Had something kicked off, there is no way that poor lad would have been able to do a thing. It really is a case of policing by consent and community in parts of the stadium, the stewards do bugger all. The crush on the way back to Argyle street was a terrible piece of crowd management and all the worse for being utterly predictable for anyone that’s ever attended a match at the KCOM.
3 or 4 blokes in west upper were sat with Pints , which doesn’t bother me but did have to question where the stewards had come from , easiest and most basic thing to stop
Yeah, I think that’s my point. If the stewards didn’t know and/or enforce one if the most basic and easiest to enforce rules in the stadium then they were going to be no use if something did kick off.
He can play either winger or number 10, which I feel might be his best position from what I have seen of him.
Had no problems walking back to Argyle street from East Stand. It was obviously busy due to a sell out just like the premiership years, crowd was double to what we have been getting this season. Main issue was the late ko allowing more fans time in the pub.
I think it should be encouraged not stopped. If its good enough for the rugby etc. Might even ease a bit of the congestion on the concourses too. Not that we will see a crowd like that again for a while.
I saw far more positive things in Samuelson in the time he was on the pitch than I did from Wilks. He was quick, skinned whoever was playing LB for Chelsea in the second half and he got into the box a couple of times. Wilks struggled, maybe with it being his first start, but he had a poor first touch and didn’t really contribute much.
Can I make a formal request that the steward in question is given the permanent role of running the E2 entrance please? Thanks
Yeah , saw that guy there with a pint in his hand , staggering up and down the stand . At one point he walked down and across to the Chelsea fans. He was more of a danger to himself , I kept expecting him to fall down and crack his head on the concrete.
Have to say, it was strange leaving the game not feeling naffed off after losing! Don’t mind losing, as much, if losing “w’ yer boots on” to coin a phrase! Thought we started more brightly, but after that early goal, we didn’t get near them, poor half from us. Much better second half, particularly after Grosicki came on, we got into them and gave them a game. His Polish fan club in front of us were ecstatic, and inebriated, haven’t seen them for a few years! Poor from City though that they couldn’t get the goal scorer correct, announcing Grosicki, but Bowen image on big screen! Stewards were rubbish in South also. When the Poles arrived, couldn’t find the right seats, sitting in any seats, falling over, wouldn’t move when challenged. Despite us shouting and whistling to Stewards to sort out, they just stood watching, it took a group of women from Tigers Trust to shift them! Great to see Angus McD around the pitch, got a good reception, although a few disappointed males in our group that he didn’t have his other half with him!
Wilks was bloody horrendous. Just left there right back to run past him constantly. And he stood still through the majority of the game. Think it summed him up when they run through the cones as they go onto the pitch. Mr Wilks just planted a foot in the gaps at walking pace. Hope it was just a lack of match fitness and not just his general attitude and ability.
Thoughts on Samuelson and Wilks: Wilks: I thought he just looked a bit lethargic - as others have said, hopefully it's just a lack of match sharpness and he'll be better after a few games under his belt. There were odd glimpses of what he might be able to produce going forwards, which was good to see. I think him being rusty is the most likely reason for his sluggish performance, as it was most notable during two moments in the game: 1. when we were on the counter and he mis-read what Kane wanted him to do (they only spent all of last season playing together, so to get that mixed up showed rust) & 2. when the whole team dropped back defending, he only half-arsed got himself back and Kane went and pushed Wilks in the back towards the man he was supposed to be closing down, as if to say 'come on you lazy git, get your arse over there!' (which was also good to see - we've not had a player who will give our own players a boot up the backside if they're not pulling their weight, in a while). Samuelson: What I like about this kid is that you can see the belief he has. There was a moment when the ball was played out to him on the right and his first touch was woeful, and the ball went straight to a Chelsea player. A lot of our current playing squad I've seen do this then stop in their tracks to show their frustration, before getting back into the game, whereas Samuelson believed that ball was his, so instead of cutting a frustrated figure, he carried on his run and clipped the ball back off the Chelsea player like as if he had planned it that way all along - it was impressive to see, so I hope he maintains that endeavour in future games.
