Absolutely not, it's down to the players, manager and his staff. Fans help with their great backing of course, but if the fans groups are trying to take credit for this, they're ego's are bigger than I thought.
100% spot on. What's sparked the revival is that PP has had time to: 1. Assess his squad 2. Have a pre season (get fitness levels up to standard) 3. Created team unity 4. Picks his best team for the tactics he wants to play. Amazes me how some are saying that the fans statement is responsible for the upturn in performances but at the same time say that blame doesn't lie with them when perfomances are ****e. Total friggin hypocrites
A massive, and probably the most significant, factor in this revival is Parky having the balls to 'get rid' of McGeady
Yep. The fan groups created a poisonous atmosphere, seems to me the club created a siege mentality and it's down to them 100%. Still early days tho but long may it continue.
A big factor yeah, but what peeved me about the whole PP business was the way he was instantly dismissed by a lot of fans. The guy knows about this league inside out, and what it will take to get out of it. If there's a player in the the league that he doesn't know everything about I'd be amazed. Was an obvious choice imo.
But Rob, you have to understand that we're a big club. We deserve better, We should have signed pearson (forget the fact that he was never going to come). In fact Poch is out of a job so we could have gone for him. Our fans deserve better, we shouldn't be cutting costs to avoid administration, we should have gambled all our money on Messi, Ronaldo and got out of this league. Seems to be a lot of Mag tendencies in our "support" recently
Certainly have. Funny how anyone over the road who disagrees with what the "fans" have done is seen as an SD arse licker and that we've been conned.
NO is the answer to the question, it did more harm than good imo. Just put up or shut up, support the club or stay away to put it nicely, is my advice to whoever they are.
I think your missing the point. The ill timed statement means that we will never know exactly what SD would have done this window, the statement gave him every excuse under the sun not to invest.
do you not think someone could do better? You mean someone who has slagged off the fans and since quit, alongside someone who tried to flip us last summer, but all of a sudden a fanzines statement has made him want to sell? If so you are pretty naive. Easy this
The last two seasons have been typical Sunderland SD buys club, milks adoration from fans by telling a load of porkie pies. Hires smooth talking Jack Ross. JR knacks up promotion, SD can't keep up the messiah act. Jack Ross sacked 6 months too late under mysterious circumstances. SD says "**** it" and hires Phil Parkinson, known throughout the game as a miserable bassa with nee crack. Huge losing streak begins. Not for the first time, club is headed for a disaster of biblical proportions. Fire and brimstone coming down from the skies. Rivers and seas boiling. Human sacrifice, dogs and cats living together... mass hysteria. Fan groups decide to get Stew telt. SD responds sounding like a fat lass who's been dumped. Results dramatically improve. Turns out JR was absolutely full of ****, the team had terrible fitness levels as a result. PP has been busy fixing all the problems and the team is cracking after all. Everyone starts fighting to take the credit like two bald men over a comb
Think the initial thing with PP was it's all going to be hoofball. With his past association with Charlie Wyke up front a lot decided long punts up to the big man was the only plan PP had which after the two recent home games it certainly hasn't been, yes the long ball gets used when needed but we've played a lot of good stuff when keeping the ball to feet, just ask Wycombe. I'm one who would have preferred Stendyl (spelling) but have been mightily impressed once Parky had got to grips with the squad. I might be a bit rose tinted glasses but a good result tonight will cement the belief and players confidence and prepare us for some upcoming difficult fixtures.
Good summarisation mate, ultimately the vast majority are only bothered by what happens on the pitch.
