With no trains to and from Hull to London on Saturday 25th and Sunday 26th makes you kind of wonder where the Chelsea fans are from!!!!!
Sold out? Will we see a record-equalling attendance then? Still pondering why so many folk are gagging to see Chelsea Res. give us the runaround At least the ground won't look embarrassingly empty on tv. Looking forward to some HDM spin off articles next week along the lines of 'Crazy kestrel scared the life out of my kids' and 'My kids clothes are covered in bird poo and steward just shrugged his shoulders' Or even 'Hull mum left fuming after Chelsea stars no show'
My boss is a Chelsea “fan “ didn’t know what day the match was , or couldn’t tell me this morning who was likely to play up front if Abraham is injured . He will probably take the mickey Monday morning if we lose tho , after I’ve told him the score if he forgets to check on teletext . Got to laugh haven’t you
They will dig a negative story out of somewhere complete with a photo of some silly twat frowning whilst folding their arms. 'my half time pie was luke warm' and how it ruined their matchday experience. My money is on complaints about the parking situation due to the burst water main down Walton Street, and there will the usual 'You don't get this at the rugby' angle. Be nice if someone would also point out to the Mail that we couldn't get a crowd over 20,000 in Boothferry Park for any game for the last twenty odd years of its life because of restrictions on the capacity.
Did you see Look North (or something) tonight with some story about a footballer in full kit doing something (I realise I’m not explaining this very well, but I wasn’t really paying attention) The person interviewed described him as a Full Kit WALLY...Mrs Tash gave me a look when I didn’t even look at the telly but muttered ‘****er...he’s a full it ****er...you ****er’
Local rugby teams don't get 20,000 gates teams even in the semi finals I'm going with "Queue chaos at KCOM as some fans miss first 75 minutes of Tigers' big match" or "Tigers parking chaos causes gridlock at St Stephens"
Grimsby Town goalkeeper James McKeown rose to a challenge by comedian Lloyd Griffith to go for a pint wearing his full match kit. To mark Great Grimsby Day, the Mariners' captain donned the black and white and even his keeper's gloves before heading down to Docks Beers to raise money for charity. He was interviewed by Burnsy yesterday, he came across really well.
Good to know we were in the last 30,000+ crowd and one any fans too young to be there are unlikely to ever see beaten. There will be no mention that not once has the greatest derby in the universe and everywhere else has not once reached the 23,500 apacitynfor rugby games (lower capacity due to reduction in areas where there is unreserved seating). My bet is there will be arguments as fans are told to sit down and shut up as someone’s little darling who is at his first game can’t see the Chelsea players and they have paid to be sat down and all this loud shouting is traumatising them.
A bit difficult for them to get that as such is the attraction they play semi-finals at stadiums holding 14,000. It does give the chance for the HDM to excitedly state that with still 4 days left there are only a few tickets left for the long journey to Doncaster.
I must say, I really don't understand why this fixture is suddenly so popular, it's only been 2 1/2 years since we were in the Prem so it's not like playing Chelsea at home is a new or novel experience. I am glad that it'll be full and don't begrudge anyone turning out to support City (as long as they are there for City and not Chelsea), unless they're wearing a half and half scarf, those ****s can **** right off.
So, if we had drawn other PL clubs, Watford Or Burnley for example, it would have been a sell out at the same price? I don’t think so.
I know what your saying and I've spoke to three people who live near by who all said they wanted tickets but thought it wouldn't sell out so left it, it just shows the fan base is there. The biggest thing about this game is the price compared to league games, I think city have got it great with both season and these six and twelve game memberships but prices for a one off game are not cheap but on this occasion they are. When missing fans have been away so long apart from the team doing well they need to be able to go to a one off game cheaper than it is now. I do hope Saturday we compete well, the crowd create an atmosphere and fans really enjoy it and following that they look at the one off game prices to maybe entice a few back, if not this season definitely next. It's much easier to lose supporters than it is to get them back has we are finding. One thing I think we all agree on is getting kids back to supporting there own city because there is no greater pride than when your own club from your city does well.
Whatever the reasons for the sell out it is still another scrap of evidence that maybe we are still a football city and, just maybe, given good ownership, a fair wind etc, we can reawaken the dream of massiveness once again, if we dare ourselves to dream.
