There was a one hour show on recently about music artists lost in the last decade. It went on for about 20 minutes about Michael Jackson. He didn't even die in the last decade, it was the 90s! Plus, he was boring, overated and apparently a kiddie fiddler. Then about 15 minutes on Whitney Houston. Yes, they had great voices but for me were both boring musically. Thankfully they mentioned the truly great Bowie and Chuck Berry. Anyway, the reason I'm so pissed off is that one of the all time great singers, song writers and rock artists didn't even merit a mention! WTF Chris Cornell (52) - RIP mate (2017), a genius. Very sad, you departed too soon Let's take things in chronological order... first up - Soundgarden One of my all time favourite albums, the 1994 masterpiece, Superunknown...
Then Chris formed Audioslave with members of Rage Against The Machine. They made three albums but their debut "Audioslave" is my favourite. Here's a couple of my favourite tracks...
You may recognise this Bond theme from Casino Royale, from Chris' second solo album - Carry On Including one of the best opening tracks to any album -
I`ve got some bootlegs of their `68 American tour, very poor quality sound, much the same as the Blind Faith recordings a couple of years later. I had and was enthralled by Disraeli Gears and Wheels of Fire and waited with bated breath for the farewell concert (not the 2005 ones) to be shown on the BBC. It was spoiled a bit by the interruptions in the music. Still it was a bit of a first for the beeb. Looking forward to this release as it should be cracking quality.
When I was young boy in Morriston Comp , Uriah Heep were the new kids on the block , good to see they're still going strong but I think my musical tastes have become more commercilsed unlike some of you on here
It`s over twenty years since he`s been gone, fantastic live, brilliant songwriter. They are still going, just not the same!
