    Winter is here for sure.
12" of snow in the valley, so we are digging out, the motorway is closed from drifting snow.
    But hey, this is Canada.
Wonder if Harry will have to shovel it....snow that is.

Well he should do something to cover his costs BC. Get her a bleddy shovel as well. Be glad when they've both buggered off from here and I don't have to hear how badly they have been treated every 5 minutes. Poor little souls. They could do with trying working for a living.

Megan Markle wins the jackpot....and marries the No1 batchelor on the market.....a million women make her their No1 hate figure straight away....but hey will she care.....she doesn't ever have to do a proper job again.....the State spends £2.4 million doing up a home for her on the biggest private estate in the country...but she still isn't happy....how did she ever expect not to be the big attraction for the press....she's married into the British Royal family....it goes with the job.
She's played her No1 card to get her cake and eat it....Diane....Harry's mum....."I'm being badly treated just like your mum"....and we all know what happened to her.....She obviously isn't up to the job of being wrapped in cotton wool and all the privileges that go with it.....what a disaster this is turning out to be....who is going to pick up the £million a year security bill to keep them safe for the other six months of the year....not Canada....and why would they anyway.

HAVE WE FOUND A WORSE PASTY THAN GINSTERS ?

Greggs have been forced to close its only branch in Cornwall after a backlash from Cornish residents over the selling of pasties.

The bakery chain opened its first store in the county in September 2018 with an outlet at a service station in Saltash but said it has shut it down following a " thorough review"......It means Greggs has returned to no longer having a presence in Cornwall despite having more than 1,700 branches across the country.

The announcement was celebrated by residents who claim the decision marked a vindication for the traditional Cornish pasty.....Some opponents had branded Greggs as "junk" and warned the chain was never likely to survive long-term in the county.

    Daily Telegraph....15-1-2020.

Most high streets in the south-east have often got two Greggs on them.....I have sampled them (I'm blushing even to admit that) quite often cooked on the premises and kept warm by what looks like only a 60 watt bulb.....they are a hint off stone cold....filled with mince meat and veg and crimped across the top....you have to be desperately hungry to submit yourself to one.

Yes ....if they are supposed to be pasties....THEN THEY ARE WORSE THAN GINSTERS.

I've just been reading the story about the snow storms in Canada BC. Probably more fallen in one day there than has fallen in pretty much my lifetime on my house. Hope you can still get out of your front door.

That was probably back East in Newfoundland. We on the West Coast had nothing compared to that.
Just a mere 8". now the rain will wash it away.

You might be sniggering and think it's a joke being at the wrong end of the life scale but your kids and grandkids won't when it all kicks in. People will be lucky if they can afford a street let alone a street party in it.

Brexit does give you the odd sardonic laugh. Sajid Javid went all masterful at the weekend and said the we would not be maintaining compliance with EU product standards etc and that business had better jolly well get on and prepare for new trading regulations in the bright new world post Brexit. I daresay he struck a power pose like this when he said it.

    upload_2020-1-21_12-1-20.jpeg

Of course, what he didn't say, and indeed couldn't because nobody knows including the Government, is what those new rules will be and we probably won't know for a couple of years, which makes preparation a tad difficult.

Still, I'm sure it will be business' fault when it all goes horribly wrong, not the Mighty Saj's.

This is a difficult subject as nobody would argue that violence against women should be other than investigated in the most rigorous way.

However, top story in the local news today is that D&C police are looking for two witnesses to a rape that allegedly took place in an hotel in Plymouth in 1978. Yes. 42 years ago. The victim didn't first report the incident until 1993 when investigations identified no suspects. The incident was again investigated in 2014, again without result. The culprits are alleged to have been members of a touring Welsh rugby club and there can't be many of those in Plymouth on any given weekend to be tracked down, so either the police have done an appalling bad job, which is always possible, or the allegation isn't very reliable.

The police are continually complaining of lack of resources and it it makes you wonder if this is a productive use of the resources that are available, Equally, there's a torrent of complaint from pressure groups about the low percentage of rape allegations that result in successful prosecutions. If this is the sort of complaint that gets included in the divisor of that calculation, then it's no wonder the percentage is perceived to be low.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued its strongest warning to date about e-cigarettes, claiming they increase the risk of heart disease and lung disorders.
In a series of posts yesterday, it said vaping was a particular risk to the developing brains of teenagers, and could damage a growing foetus.
The WHO warned that e-cigarettes exposed non-smokers and vapers to nicotine and other harmful chemicals and said there was little evidence they help smokers to quit.
"e-cigarettes are harmful to health and are not safe," It said."(They) increase the risk of heart disease and lung disorders. They pose significant risks as they can damage growing foetus. They are particularly risky when used by adolescents,"
Since 2015, Public Health England (PHE) has advised smokers to switch to vaping, claiming that it is 95% safer than smoking tobacco.
Prof John Newton, the PHE director for health improvement : said " We continue to keep the evidence on e-cigarettes under review."
"However, smoking kills half of lifelong smokers and accounts for almost 220 deaths in England every day.. PHE has always been clear that while not completely risk free, Uk regulated e-cigarettes carry a fraction of the risk of smoking tobacco.

    Daily Telegraph article...Wednesday...22-01-20.

My thoughts.....at least you can avoid vapers walking towards you down the pavement....you get prior warning that one is coming by the huge pall of vapour going heaven-wards. (is that a word ?)..... and you can side step them........The only time you get caught is when one overtakes you from behind and subjects you to a vapour cloud by exhaling just in front of you as they pass.....personally a criminal act and deserving of being tasered on the spot.
Its as if their sole roll in life is to kill as many people as they can whilst slowly killing themselves.

Further to this story.....Megan has been bleating about being photo'd whilst walking her dogs and carrying her son....in a public place....she knows that the world's paparazzi are nearby solely for photo opportunities....so she complains about being photo'd in a public place in Canada.....did she have any security present.....we don't know.

Royalty experts have said that the safest place for Harry and Megan to live is.......yes you've guessed it.....in the UK.

Since their wedding experts reckon that there has not been one paparazzi leak to the public....that doesn't mean they haven't tried......the difference is that in Canada they are open to the whole world's paparazzi camping on their door step.

This couple I feel are driven by one overriding factor......and that is....what Megan want's....Megan gets......she will destroy this marriage and destroy Harry as well.....they need to listen to sound advice and not Megan's circle of show business friends...who will bask off the paparazzi's interest for their own benefit.

PS.....In 1935/36...the future Duke of Windsor and his twice divorced future wife....were known as an item worldwide.....accept in the UK where their affair could not be talked about in the press.....so the whole affair was largely unknown by the general public.....in this present digital age no one can break wind without the whole world knowing in less than sixty seconds......get real Megan Markle and count your blessings and the privileges that it has given you....not quite like going to the food bank for your child's next meal.

A bit harsh Plym. The paps should be strung up by their soft and dangly bits and toilet paper comics such as the Sunday Mail should suffer penal damages for publishing stuff in which there is no public interest at all. Public interest is whether the NHS and social services actually work, whether politicians or public servants are corrupt etc etc, not what Joe or Josephine Average has a prurient curiosity about when they can drag their eyes off Love Island.

The very fact that this is being discussed shows the level of intrusion into their lives and of course the fact that there's currently a libel action against the Mail on Sunday, There's nothing that draws the tabloid trash together quicker than one of them being challenged in court. They like to kill that at source and get back to tapping the phones of the bereaved parents of murdered teenage girls. They aren't called the Gutter Press for nothing.

"no one can break wind without the whole World knowing about it in 60 seconds"

That is not true as I do it all the time and very little gets out........................boom boom.

I have absolutely no interest nor sympathy for any of them, News Papers or Royal Family alike. The Royals, and Harry and Megan are two of the worst offenders when it suits, court the news hounds and use them yet moan and groan when used. The papers print any old crap and call it journalism. I have no interest in any of their lives. I don't like reality TV programmes or celebrity anything. It is just rubbish banging on about them going for a piss in a forest and thinking the World needs to know. I DON'T FECKING CARE. But, they take the Countries shilling and being in the news is the price they pay and it goes with the privilege they get and the job. If you don't like your job then resign and push off somewhere else and get another one but don't expect the privilege to continue. Millions around the World live far worse lives than they do and would swap at the drop of a hat.

I looked at a short video goal scored by Tranmere in their FA cup tie against Watford tonight. What an absolutely disgusting pitch they have. There was more sand on it than on Paignton seafront. We are so used to seeing our own pitch now and how brilliantly it stands up to almost any weather that it is easy to forget how terrible this winter has been rain wise for some of these grounds. Ours used to be like that but we haven't had it bad for quite a few years now. I think they now play Man U on that ground on Sunday. Bet there are quite a few of the multi million brigade who are not going to relish it.

On this disastrous day for the UK, it's apposite to review exactly what the backing there is for Brexit, especially a hard Brexit which will move British industry outside the EU regulatory framework and so destroy thousands of jobs.
