The top of the table is very tight, unless a team goes on a long winning streak (please God let it be us) it is going to be nip and tuck to see who finishes where. This window may be important to get players in to strengthen the squad for the run in.. what did Lafferty look like yesterday?
I've got to the point of looking up the table with not many teams above and not many points between which is good and reminds me of the Reid/Smith/keane days. Teams we play, teams above us and who they play etc. Rotherham top form of late but could have another poor run. I'll settle for 2nd but would love to just steamroller everyone now and win it. Playoffs allways a gamble but if we do end up in them, is it our turn ?
i have H Doncaster 3, Ipswich 1, Rochdale 3, B Rov 3, fleetwood 3, Gill 3, shrewsbury 3, Peterboro 1, Accy 3 = ------------------------23 points A Tranmere 3, Portsmouth 0, Oxford 1,Cov 1, B rovers 3, blackpool 1, Southend 3, AFC Wimb 3, Burton 1, Rotherham 0 = 15 points W 11 D 7 L 2 points 80 should be top 2 no where near the 90+ points needed last season.
Unless I'm mistaken Oxford don't have another league game until February. Coventry and Portsmouth have one each. Before the end of January Peterborough are at home to Rotherham and Wycombe while Rotherham are at home to Ipswich. Draws in all those games would leave us the chance to end the month 2 points off the top. Two signings and we could be rebuking this summer for the Championship.
It's all about the next 6 weeks for me. And we need a big squad to keep the momentum as almost 2 games per week. We can go 4th and close the gap by winning next Friday as Oxford and Coventry don't play. Then 6-pointer games against Ipswich, Coventry, Portsmouth and Oxford in Feb could set us up very nicely by March provided we win the majority...if not all. Wins against Tranmere, Rochdale and ****wits Fleetwood during the same 6 weeks also needed. Intrigued to see which other new recruits we get. Fingers crossed.
when you look at our fixtures after the coventry game only Rotherham away looks tough so about 9 winnable games left out of them.
Feb is make or break for the season imo. Out of the 7 games we play Portsmouth (a) Ipswich (h) Oxford (a) Coventry (a) These games are the ones that could define our season. The confidence we currently have tho will certainly help, but first it’s dealing with Donny at home. Other games in Feb for anyone who cba to check Rochdale, Bristol Rovers & Fleetwood all at home
