Sorry, Mike, but Bamford DOES hold the ball up well. There is absolutely no doubt about that. I do agree that he should convert more - indeed, you'd be a straightjacket job if you disagreed. But you cannot blame him for the rest of the team failing to score. I've said it before & I'll say it again - our goal-scoring performance is a pervasive team issue - not just one player. Yes, Bamford misses a load - but so do the others! They set each other up with loads of chances, but the chances are rarely taken. Bamford gets more chances than most - no argument about that - but even if he got half of our total number of chances, the other half are not being put away either. I'm not going to launch into a diatribe, but will finish with a quick comparison of Bamford & Costa, who was sold to us as a striker, #10, & winger. Costa (will) cost twice as much as Bamford. Doesn't matter if he plays CB - he's been bought for his skills, goal-scoring included, and should be taking his chances too. He doesn't. Harrison is the same, I might add, but (will) 'only' cost £8m. So in terms of £/goals, Bamford is not doing too badly in the comparison. And before anyone asks - yes, if we get someone better, I'd gladly see him replace Bamford, but finding someone available & affordable in January is nigh on impossible. Which should come as no surprise, but it seems it has for some.
You're right Bamford, Costa and Harrison, none are strikers, but Costa and Harrison weren't supposed to be, Bamford is maybe a number 10,but we still need 2 strikers then, and you're right now is a hard time to get them, so why in the summer when we sold 3 strikers didn't we, did we only loan an U23 and then not play him knowing full well he would be called back by doing so.
Anyone know how you calculate shooting accuracy? Using the numbers provided, it's impossible to come up with that percentage. If you calculate 138 as a percentage of 434, it's only 31.87%, not 42.2%. Strange. Perhaps it's the chances (332) you use instead of the shots to calculate it. Oops! Nope, that's 41.56%, not 42.2%. So basically, another load of pish stats that'someone's made up & not had ratified. And another thing, it appears that our 332 chances generated 433 shots! I'd have thought it would be 332 at the most! And presumably 'shots' includes headers?
You don't need stats to see Bamford couldn't hit a dart board. And you don't need stats to see nearly every other teams strikers can get more on target, you didn't need stats to see Roofe got probably twice the percentage on target .The stats just back up what everyone can see.
Is that your excuse for not coming Leeds ? because it won't wash, we all know you only bring a minibus not a coach.
See our friends in Germany are gearing up for their teams annual visit to Elland Road wonder if they will actually take off
We're we ? You never said you're the only cheap skate club we could buy any of your players for a fiver, but you ain't got anyone worth having.
Talking utter pish again. Who were these 'best u23s' we sold? As usual, no detail from Chesh, just an ill-informed opinion with no substance to it. Even if they were our best, how well are they doing in the outside world? McCalmont has been carefully groomed to take over from Phillips. Spent the whole of last year being screamed at to guide him. Lots of screaming at the start of the season, virtually nothing from February onwards. He's the finished article. Jenkins is now going through this process. Seemingly at a quicker rate than McCalmont, but that's a subjective view. If he wasn't injured, Forshaw would probably be thrown in, as he has in the past, & we also have Klich, who has played there before. White too. But it'll prolly be Dallas, knowing Bielsa. Btw, Halme believed he should be playing regularly for the first team & demanded a transfer. He got it. Remember 'side not self'? The other u23s leaving were so unknown they didn't merit media coverage, so we'll never know if they followed the same path, or weren't deemed good enough.
Got my ticket yesterday, the team are getting better and better with every game, looking forward to it!!
Are you just thick or going senile,Clark and Halme and Odour there's 3,so Halme wanted a pay rise we refused to give him and that's why we have no cover for Phillips next week , how are they doing, Halme is a regular MOM for Barnsley, Odour has been MOM against WBA, and Clark played in the team who beat us yesterday So I would say very well. Forshaw can't defend if his life depended on it so if he wasn't a sick note, isn't a replacement for Phillips. What we do know is the current U23s who are the only fit players at the club we can use as subs, aren't good enough as results show, you said the other week we didn't win 2 games because Eddie doesn't defend like Bamford, can you remind me how the last 2 games gone with brilliant defender Bamford and no Eddie, ow guess you were talking pish again.
