Finish my night shifts in the morning then have a few days off, so will be able to follow it a bit more closely..
The other thing to remember about this particular tour, is that a lot of players (including Root) have had an illness that has caused diarrhoea? Not great prep for playing in the heat. Boycott I believe used to take his own crates of bottled water...
Managed to watch a bit on the sly at work. Curran and Wood smashing the boundaries. Great day for England and signs of a very good test team as most are young.
For what it's worth: Mark Wood > Archer currently (even ignoring the batting) Mostly due to the fact Archer just needs a rest. Personally I'd send him home and get him back firing on all cylinders in the summer. He could be a great player but I'm worried we're going to burn him out.
Yep atm he plays all 3 forms of the game...fast bowlers need to train and rest to he at their best... they use the most energy of all cricketers.. build up endurance and strength...
It's not the norm to enforce nowadays but given the breaks in play, the limited overs the seamers are bowling and the loss of time then I suspect Root would be correctly lynched by the press if he didn't enforce
Mark Wood steaming in here like - currently gone for only 10 runs in 9 overs Edit typical goes for 11 in his tenth over!
What a start this morning two overs, two wickets no runs stumps all over the place, what a difference a new ball makes.
Great to watch last wicket stand from South Africa, too late to prevent any doubt about the result, but it was, and could have been a lot closer than it looked.
It's good to see a number 9/10 come out and just bludgeon the ball instead of trying to block out a few extra overs!!
