Nothing has changed overnight, we lost our way a bit in the second half but there is still a lot to admire about the team and although it's no consolation i'm pleased for Jan and especially Shane on a personal level.
Shame about that result. We were good 1st half. Not so good 2nd. No shame losing to wolves. They did a very good job on ings today aswell.
And Ralph is right to be pissed IMO, the ref had the penalty call correct. Regardless of Stephens tackle Cedric had the ball. Probably a stupid move by Stephens anyway as he had little chance of taking the ball. No clear and obvious error there.
So did I on first look. On closer exam it’s apparent that Cedric was in front of the wolves player before any contact by Stephens. He’s only getting that ball by fouling Cedric. Closer exam is what VAR is for. No point in complaining about it but Ralph isn’t clutching at straws.
There first goal was because Neto was completely unmarked. He had so much room. The penalty looked a dead cert. Their winner was bad marking again.
And lets not forget one very important positive from yesterday - Shane actually scored a goal! Here's hoping the floodgates have opened and he goes on a double digit goal scoring run between now and the end of the season.
Saints are playing better than at the beginning of the season and are winning games...it is always possible to lose a game, whether by playing badly or not getting the rub of the green, but we will get results in our favour overall if we continue playing well. Was surprised that we lost after going 2 up, but confident we will continue on our upward trajectory. This is a trip not a fall.
It does confirm that screaming for a var review in the refs face when he hasn't given the decision works.
You must be mistaken mate, I was reliably informed that var would put an end to players surrounding the ref.
I'm not sure that has any effect. I thought the VAR officials tell the ref there's gonna be a review.
I don’t see what difference it makes, if Cedric has the ball. Stephens recklessly went to ground and made contact with the Wolves striker, and Cedric having the ball doesn’t make it any less of a foul. It just makes it frustrating that Stephens gave the ref the opportunity to give the penalty (correctly IMO), albeit with the involvement of VAR.
Yep this 100%. If someone doesn't have the ball and a player knocks them over, it is still a foul surely?
