Anyway, I blame the rookie ref. He called a corner & VAR told him to change to a pen. If he had balls, he should have told them to FO!
Some good points there. I thought the same regarding Romeu. Not too clever they over-run / out fought us 2nd half considering their FAC game midweek. Still onwards UTFS.
Yeah I haven't let it ruin my mood for days at a time ever since my lad was born. Can still put me on cloud nine for a few days though. Plus one for making it more exciting
Chimes with my mate’s txt who was at the match. Basically 5 or so weeks ago, no one would have put us in with any hope on this match, ‘‘another nail in the coffin’ would have a fairly predictable forecast. BUT as it is we just fell short against a damn good team, and listening to Ralph on Solent tonight, I’d be thinking Palace will find us pretty difficult on Tuesday and I’m fairly confident we’ll get a good result there. Time to MOVE ON FOLKS!!
BS take this on the chin and move on. RH has gotten it so right these past few weeks but today he got carried away with our recent run of success. Wolves have a reputation for coming from behind. We were naive in the 2nd half, we knew they would come for us. We should have slowed the game down and played possession for the first 20 mins of the second half, made them chase the ball. Kill the game and get them more desperate and pick them off on the break. But we went toe to toe. We carried on as if we could continue to blow them away, but they are a very good team and they made us pay. When Traore came off the wing and more through the centre we needed to swap out a striker and drop someone in front of the 2 CB's. The midfield was getting overrun and we only switched around attacking midfielders and strikers. For me, we played some lovely football today, but there are times to shut up shop and not make it easy for the opposition.
I don't think this was a bad performance and probably a draw was a fair result. However, I felt that wolves were one of the best organised teams I have seen this season at St Mary's and it is not disgrace to lose to a decent team like this. I have to say that I believed the half-rime score flattered Saints as Wolves should have converted one of their chances.
Spot on. Sadly quite obvious. Edit; yes easy to say from here but a reaction had to come from WW & going toe to toe wasn’t sadly the way.
I can only remember Ings having one shot and I think it was a game changing moment. Had the defender not got in a block, I think the ball would have nestled in the back of the net, and at 3-0 I think we would have seen it out. Disappointed, but Wolves have now taken 18 points from losing positions, so we’re not the only team to be turned over by their resilience. Just need to regroup for the Palace game on Tuesday, a ground where we have had some good results.
Pretty much my take on the game. Great entertainment from 2 good sides. Neither deserved to lose. 2-0 at half time flattering to us. 3-2 to wolves flattering at full time. Does not change anything IMO. Same team Tuesday (unless Ralph decides someone needs a rest) and no change in transfer strategy.
Thanks, as you’ll see from another post of mine, I’m not ‘down’ just curious about the way it turned out. My mate said similar things as you have described. Much appreciated.
By the way, we all thought last goal was offside but VAR was about handball. Do they check both as a matter of course?
