Anyway, respecting the thread I have Charlton at 4-1 as my double. Just need Reading to boost my beer money
@Clb74 Someone else will have to ogle your horrible legs at Preston tomorrow. I’m no longer going. Reason simple - no signings. If I want to watch the kids / Reserves, I can get in at Sparrows Lane for free.
I find this post very disheartening. A couple of questions Royston if i may; 1) If there are no new signings by next Wednesday, will you miss the home game against Fulham? 2) If Duchatelet was still running the Club and had also made no new signings, would you still be going to Preston? You staunchly supported the team away from the Valley during the reign of the hated Belgian. He would have given Bowyer nothing in this transfer window, and he would probably have sold Lyle Taylor. But I suspect you would still be going tomorrow if there had been no take-over. Does this mean you have lost faith in Lee Bowyer? Honestly I'm not winding you up. Just trying to understand the depth of your disillusionment. This slow transfer window seems to have knocked your faith a lot more than Duchatelet ever managed to.
All you need to do is defend with two banks of four, then start reading a book because we do not have a clue how to break that formation down.
@lardiman Swansea was a fair old trip, and although we put on a resolute show it was 4-5-1 with the kids & reserves. Now minus Gallagher, tomorrow will be no different. If the club makes an effort, so shall I. It’s a two way street. I’ll definitely be at the Fulham game.
How are you against 5 at the back? That's what we've been playing recently, although Bowyer prefers a diamond midfield.
To be truthful at the moment we are a bit crap against any formation, if you have a go we'll probably win, if you sit back we struggle and resort to long ball, at home recently lost the last three our build up has been painfully slow, played OK against Norwich in the second half however 3 down at half time could hardly play any worse.
Won't be a game for the neutrals then. A stalemate could be on the cards. I was quite impressed with the support you brought down for a Sunday mid-day game. I spoke to some of your fans on the train who told me there were no direct trains that day from Preston.
Thanks for the answer. I do also appreciate that long away trips make a high demand of time and money. I wouldn't criticise anybody for their away supporting habits, having been to about 4 away games myself in the last 10 years. It seems to me that when RD was running the Club, Lee Bowyer and the team were regarded as a separate entity. Travelling away to support them was an act of defiance against Roland, a venture not to be discouraged no matter how miserly the old scrote became. Now ESI have taken over, has that 'separateness' of the team on a match-day disappeared? Now Bowyer, the players and ESI are all rolled together - which is certainly how Matt Southall has been presenting things. The upshot being that if ESI don't strengthen the squad, then the team is no longer worthy of the time and expense of away supporters. In effect, Lee Bowyer and his players are no longer immune from association with the perceived failings of the people running CAFC. I guess that is the down side of having hopes raised and then apparently not fulfilled. I very much hope this is not the way it's going to be in the longer term. There is still time to save our transfer window, and our season.
You just signed Scott Sinclair on a package that would have taken our recent owner three seasons to lay out you also nicked Patrick Bauer off us and we haven’t properly replaced him. We will have at least 3 genuine kids playing for us tomorrow- they are promising, but they shouldn’t be playing. We also lost our best player this week. Against your cynical, sh1t house team (see game at the Valley....) it could well be a 4-0 loss for us.
