The 4th Test is at Wanderers in Jo’burg, which is normally a seamers’ wicket, so I would imagine Wood will play in any case. We could even see a 5 seamer attack, with Broad, Archer, Woakes, Curran, and Stokes all involved!
How do you get Woakes in with Curran at 8. Personally, I would leave Archer out to give him time to recover fully as it would be a crying shame to rush him back just for the 4th test and at the risk of breaking down again.
How do you know this stuff Chilcs? Have you been to SA for cricket or any other country for that matter?
Yep, outside of Australia the Wanderers is arguably the quickest pitch in the world. If there's one pitch we want Wood and Archer fit together...
That’s hilarious, I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. Wood caught out and Root declares, but it’s shown to be a no-ball, so Root reverses the declaration. 472-8. Cracking stuff from Pope and Wood.
Wood eventually caught legitimately for 42, England declare again on 499-9. An absolutely magnificent 135 no for Ollie Pope, who will now be part of the England setup for the next 15 or 20 years.
He did a couple of reverse-ramps off Rabada which both went the distance. Exciting times to be a England supporter.
Wait until he hits a bad patch and the same press that are lauding him right now will crucify him. Not seen him, but judging by comments across the board he seems to be of the highest class with a good temperament. If he is as good as Gower, who for me, was the most gifted batsman England ever had, he will be a brilliant player. Pity Surrey won´t see much of him!!!
There's been a lot of comments about how Rabada has been harshly treated but as someone who feels that cricket should be played to the best possible standards, I think he got what he deserved. His actions weren't too bad really but unecessary, and being on three demerits already it was pretty stupid.
This picture is from youtube from 1994. If you look top left you will see a george cross flag with WARBY ROBBO SAINTS This is a mate and me who spent three weeks in Aus watching cricket.
Rain stops play 15 minutes before lunch at Port Elizabeth, SA on 113-5. Somerset's Dom Bess gets a 5-for!
